Summary: An exceptional self-help manual
Review: An excellent and unique self-help manual for parents. The book, written in a warm and supportive style, is well organized and well researched. The book is packed with valuable information, practical advice and sample school project assignments. The message seems to be relax and have fun. School projects can provide an enjoyable and shared learning experience for both parent and child.

Summary: Teachers Like it Too
Review: As an elementary school teacher, I was so pleased with this book. It gives parents all the information that they need to help ensure their children are successful in today's classroom. I brought my copy to open house this year to share with the parents of my students.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: More than you think
Review: Four cool things about this book:

1) It covers different grade levels, meaning parents can use it for all their children and / or as kids progress through school.

2) It's on more than just projects, meaning you also get info on how to help with field trips and ways a parent can volunteer (and BE volunteered!) at school -- for one hour or the whole year.

3) It's by a parent for parents, meaning it's the real-life, in-the-trenches scoop.

4) The author is swell. I met her at a book signing, and she was as accessible in person as the book is when you read it.

A good book.

Summary: Refuge for writer's blocked students!
Review: I am currently a high school student and we get projects all the time. I was at a loss most of the time, finishing a slapdash project the night before it was due, when I came across A Parent's Guide to School Projects. Ever since then I have gotten nothing but A's on my projects and its all thanks to the helpful ideas provided as well as the study techniques. I recommend it to anyone who is either in school or has a child who is. This book is a lifesaver!

Summary: Excellent Book
Review: I love this book and highly recommend it. A Parent's Guide to School Projects is a treasure for parents, as well as for students and teachers. I wish it had been written sooner. It would saved me years of agony, driving to [local store] at 10 at night (to buy poster board for an assignment I just found out was due tomorrow) and trying to extract from my hysterical kid what, exactly, the teacher means by "map project". The book's appendices contain step-by-step models of many types of grade-specific projects. You want to know the expected format of a Science Fair Research Report? It's there, along with models of a research report, oral report, book report, math project, map project, and more. Weir, as a parent herself, has supervised years of school projects with her own children and includes photos and summaries of many in the book. I particularly like her list of items which are always needed for school projects which should be stocked in the supply cupboard of every household with children in school. This book is full of wisdom and inspiration.
