Summary: Family safe Web content? Who'd a thunk?!
Review: Believe it or not, there actually is good clean family fun out there on the Web. The Web is good for loads of family entertainment and this book helps find it and keeps you from wasting time trying to find the specific kinds of Family fun you looking for. For what you'd spend on two movie tickets for an hour or two max of entertainment, or you can get this book which will be good hours and hours and hours of solid family entertainment and information on the Web.

Summary: Great book.
Review: I bought this book because the authors list my daughters site.."Alli's Busy World" as one of the best childrens sites. I simply had to have a copy of a book that would list my toddlers fun site. The book turned out to be terrific for the whole family. Thank you!

Summary: Nice roadmap!
Review: I like this book because I don't have to know a lot of technical terms to use it. It's a quick reference guide, but certainly not boring like some manuals you see. I wish I'd had this two years ago when my youngest was interested in learning how to find his way around!!!!

Summary: Practical advice for concerned parents
Review: Internet Family Fun is the kind of book I like to store close to my computer, because my older kids can use it when I'm busy in the other room. The reviews are easy to understand, but not shallow. Plus there's a good variety of sites. Lots of educational (but fun at the same time!)places to visit, which makes it great for parents like me who homeschool.

The artwork is bright and clever. This book will please all ages, and would make a great gift for birthdays, holidays, or whatever.

Summary: Thanks for a great guide!
Review: The only thing I wish is that there were more than 250 sites in this guidebook! It has helped me a lot and I'm using it at daycare where I work during our computer hour. I'd like to see more of this kind of stuff.

Summary: A really easy to read book with a lot of just good facts.
Review: This is one of the best books that I have read about children and their trips to the internet. It really shows you that there is safe surfing that is out there and lists many many places to go out on the web that are child friendly and not simply childish.

Summary: Internet Family Fun de-mystifies the Internet for parents.
Review: Whether you're brand-new to the Internet or a seasoned Web surfer, here's a book that will appeal to the parent in you. Internet Family Fun is much more than a guide to nearly 250 family-friendly sites. It's a tool that will help Mom and Dad understand and appreciate what the Net has to offer their household.

The first three chapters briefly describe the bare-bones essentials of going online, without boring those who may already have a computer and Net account. Using a lighthearted approach, I briefly cover topics such as "Why Would a Nice Family Like Us Want to Go to a Place Like THAT?" and "Will Any Ol' Pawnshop Computer Do?".

This book does not guarantee "safe surfing", but promotes the belief that parents can and should become involved in their child's online adventures. The pre-screened and age-categorized Web sites offer readers a well-balanced springboard to Internet fun, and encourages them to search out additional sites for themselves.

These are not "fluff" sites, but entertaining, educational, and memorable pages that will help broaden a family's horizons to hopefully make a difference in their lives, both online and off. "Brain Booster" (Chapter 7), for instance, covers a variety of places online where kids can learn new skills such as photography, writing, origami, computer art, and cooking. That chapter also includes a generous collection of interactive sites where families can play games, puzzles, and connect with others who enjoy the same types of activities.

Internet Family Fun spotlights a dozen schools, as well, to illustrate how the Net can be used to promote education and good, clean content. Chapter 8 focuses on families who have created some unique homepages, followed by a full chapter of suggestions on how to build a homepage, and where to download free graphics and page-creation tools online.

Whether you're seeking homework helpers, preschool storybooks, libraries, audio files, or virtual expeditions, I believe ! you'll find Internet Family Fun a helpful gateway to your online experience. Keep it handy for quick reference; there's no heavy reading required.

Happy surfing! Bonnie Bruno
