Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Troubled Teens/Distraught Parents Review: Dr. Brown offers words of wisdom to those of us who have troubled teens. This book is not for those with compliant teens who make straight As. Here's a short test: If you are on a first name basis with the principle of your school because of the number of times you have been in his/her office..., if large amounts of money have disappeared from your wallet..., if your child's friends are getting into drugs..., if police have brought your child home... you need to read this book! The road ahead of you is not easy but you need to plan your responses to your teen's actions. Dr. Brown will help you to be ahead of your teen with clearly defined consequences that will help you manage their behavior. By planning ahead you are in control rather than the teenager who can create so much chaos that you are always on the defensive. Dr. Brown guides you through common parenting issues like where to draw the boundaries and deciding what behaviors require parental response and what behaviors are normal teenage irresponsibility. I wish I had found this book 5 years before I did. I would have drawn firmer boundaries with sharper consequences earlier. (The book could have used some minor editing but thats a quibble. It is very helpful in spite of a few misspellings.)
