Rating: Summary: just what the doctor ordered Review: Norma's book is such a refreshing answer for parents. She focuses on the real problems parents face with clear, concise solutions. Before reading Norma's book I was constantly battling for control with my children and losing my temper. Now that I have followed her Parenting Plan I can always focus myself to better handle my kids' issues (I even pasted it to my refrigerator). With Norma's methods, I feel less guilty and more empowered when I need to say NO. And believe me as a working mother with two growing kids, we ALL need to say NO!This is a must read for parents and parents to be! If you feel you have lost control of your family I cannot recommend this book enough. This is the best investment I have made towards my future as a parent, and to prepare my kids for theirs.
Rating: Summary: You Can Say No and Your Child Will Still Love You Review: Wow!!! A must read book for parents who have lost control of their lives to their children. What was I thinking? Reading Norma Ross' book finally made the lightbulb not only light up , but shine brightly. As a businessman, I intuitively know that to insure success when I have a project to do, I must develop a plan in conjunction with my colleague(s), so that we have a common goal, with the same degree of commitment. Parenting is no different! Decide with your partner what you wish to change, in small increments, in your child. Then support each other as you roll out the plan, so the child sees the goal and more importantly the unity between you and your partner. It won't be easy, but it worked for my family. The hard part for us was finding "the right words to use with our child"-Ms.Ross' book not only gives you the plan, but all the words to use as well. Well worth the cost versus the enormous payback-we've regained control of our lives. Certainly worth a try.
