Summary: Baby Boomer's Menopause Handbook
Review: Thanks Carolyn Agosta for the informative and to the point book that answered all the questions I did not even realize I could have about menopause. The subjects discussed in this book were done in a careful and well researched style that made me feel that when the time comes, I will be able to make well thought out choices.
I particularly liked how she included women's personal experiences with menopause, so that you realized immediately how varied each woman's response could be. Also, the summaries at the end of each chapter brought all the information neatly together for quick referral in the future. Throughout the book were thoughtful quotes by women, which I found enjoyable to read and empowering.
This is a book that all women should read if they REALLY want the facts about menopause. I can honestly say that before reading this book, I thought of menopause as scary. After reading it I felt like it was just another phase of life as a women and that I could make informed choices, with the material Carolyn presented.

Summary: Baby Boomers Menopause Handbook.
Review: The Baby Boomers Menopause Handbook is a treasure. I carry this book with me in my purse and share it with all women I come in contact with. I am 53yrs. At age 50 my body fritzed. I was diagnosed with an ovarian cyst which they recommended that I have removed. Then I developed a breast tumor which was cancerous. I had the surgery to remove the lump and have since been dealing with balancing my hormones and becoming healthy. If I had realized that these changes were taking place since my 40's, I might have prevented these conditions. Methods of dealing with menopause that cause no harm are the key. This book gives you the information to make your own choices as to which modality would be right for you. I agree with using the creams. I personally like one kind over another. I like the supply listings and the reference pages so one can find these aids. The saliva tests are a great way to find out the levels your hormones are. From there you can work on making a difference. Diet changes are important. The soy products on the market are becoming more abundant. They really help with hot flashes. We need to be aware of genetically engineered soy products, since they cause damage to our bodies. So again, the references are terrific. Herbs that help us because they are synergistic to our systems. They might take longer, but they are effective. I also appreciate the art work. It is very femine without being frail. We are strong women becoming stronger with menopause. This is definitely portrayed through the fluid yet solid drawings. And of course the color... purple...perfect. I like it's size;Small enough to carry as I stated before as a handbook. When shopping I can look for the products that are listed in the book by just reaching in my bag and pulling it out. It really is a HAND BOOK. We are learning more & more about our bodies, and goddesses within will emerge balanced and healed in order to follow through into the next phase of life. This book validates this premise.

Summary: Practicality and Readability
Review: This book makes a very confusing subject understandable. All women need to know more about the normal processes of our bodies as we progress through our lives and many have no one to be a counselor. This book fills that gap. Somehow, menopause has been under-shared between women. This book makes the subject understandable in a very readable way. It presents the various options available with an explained preference for reveling in the natural progressions of our bodies. The many meaningful comments on personal experiences and real people sharing their experiences is very meaningful. The comment on little itchy patches was a direct hit on my own experiences.

I would recommend this as basic reading for any woman in her middle years. In fact, I've sent it to many friends and relatives since I purchased and read it for myself.

Summary: An age-old "problem" reconsidered
Review: This little book is a necessity for women approaching or experiencing menopause, and for the men who care about them! In simple language, it dispells many of the myths associated with this normal, universally-experienced change in women's lives. It offers support and information, and encourages women to take charge of their own menopause as they have taken charge of many other aspects of their lives. Above all, it offers hope that this developmental change need not be feared.
