Summary: What a shame!
Review: I have been teaching my child using Glenn Doman's methods for over a year, and I bought Dr. Titzer's book and video as a supplement. What a mistake! My little guy was bored silly by the video (he's 18 months) and, as others have commented, the book did not hold up well at all. My own homemade books are far more durable! If you have a small child and want to teach them to read, avoid this lightweight ripoff of Glenn Doman's books and go to the source.

Summary: A bit disappointing, but a good concept
Review: I was disappointed in the quality of this book. You would think a child development expert could make a more durable book, because a toddler could have it tore apart in no time. However it is a good concept in teaching your baby to read, the words are in big, bold print and easy to see. But don't kid yourself- it will take more than parking your kid in front of the tv with a video and buying one special book to have your child reading by age 2. I would recommend checking in to Dr. Glen Doman's program, because it takes dedication and interaction with an older person to learn how to read. However this would work for days you don't have time to work with your child on reading.

Summary: Great book!
Review: My (16 mos.) son adores this book! He can read most of the words from the book as well as from a piece of paper. The only negative is that the binding is not great so the book quickly becomes flash cards. The videos are also excellent learning tools.

Summary: What a shame!
Review: My six month old son loves looking at the book and I can keep it out of his reach for now... but the book is very poorley made. It has lots of paper-thin flaps that wont last long, and it is poorley binded with staples. The video is worth the investment!!!

Summary: Great companion to the video!
Review: My toddler LOVES this book, as well as both "Your Baby Can Read" videos. It works very well to reinforce the video, and he loves having words he knows. Other books that are good for first words(in type big enough your toddler can read himself as he's learning) include: Spot's Favorite colors, Spot's Favorite Words (there are 4 chunky board Spot books - they're all great), Helen Oxenbury board books (I hear, I See, etc.), and A Is For Astronaut (by Sian Tucker), as well as lots of the Snapshot board books (Colors, Shapes, etc). I definitely recommend both the "Your Baby Can Read" book and video, but would also recommend using it as part of a larger phonics-oriented program when teaching your preschooler/toddler to read. Consider the So Smart videos (you can teach the letter sounds with the So Smart:All About Letters video - rather than the letter names which are easily learned later), Dr. Suess's ABC video, and once some beginning reading is occurring, Hop on Pop (Dr. Suess video). Most of all, ENJOY!

Summary: Great book but not so good quality
Review: Our 10 months old baby loves this book and the video so much. She loves flipping up the pages, kissing the pictures and, of course, tearing up the pages. She claps her hands as soon as she sees the word "clap". She has big smile on when she sees the "smiling" page.

The only disappointment is the quality of this book. It is already torn apart after she opens and kisses it everyday for 4 months. The staples are also very dangerous for babies. We hope the company would make the next version on board paper, trim the edges and use tape or glue instead of staples.
