Rating: Summary: Required reading in American society. Review: No matter who you are, whether you are male or female, young or old, parent or childless, you will benefit from the message and great wisdom that is this book, written by an author who is painfully honest. I stumbled across it and found it hard to believe that it is difficult to find, except, of course, at .... Perhaps that is because it is recently published. Written by a psychiatrist, this is not the usual Freudian treatise that you may expect from the title. In fact, Dr. Wagemaker is not a follower of Freud.-- More than 3000 teens are murdered each year. That is 240 Columbines. Why? -- What has occurred in our society to cause this? -- Boys who have good relationships with their dads at an early age don't have to show aggression as adolescents to get their dad's attention. -- 160,000 kids miss school every day because of bullying. -- Troubled kids are often depressed (and this is easily treated). -- Violence is the last link in a chain that starts with disconnection. -- We lose 5,000 kids a year to suicide, and this is avoidable. -- More, much more. Best of all, he provides meaningful solutions. Why has our society faltered? This book may be read in a single sitting, and easily flows to help you understand the answers, but much more than that -- the solution!. I cannot think of a single person that would not benefit from it. Our nation owes a debt of gratitude to Dr. Wagemaker for this book.
