Rating: Summary: Helloooooooooooooooooooooo, baby! Review: Once chatchi and his girl got engaged, everything changed. We were fighting more, and I started to see one of my old girlfriends on the side. When my fiancée found out, she freaked! We yelled and screamed at each other for a couple of hours, but after some awesome make-up sex, we're officially a couple again. We worked out our problems, and agreed that marriage wasn't good for chatchi, and we just decided to be in a casual relationship.Everything is great, right? Sure, until she went three months without her period. Even though my girl swears I was her "first", chatchi can't be certain that the baby is mine. Until I can find proof, I'm going to play the role of responsible father-to-be. My first job was to convince my girl that she needed to get an abortion. Then we had to deal with all of the moral issues and whatnot, but what closed the doors to that idea was the cost. Man, abortions ain't cheap! After convincing my girl that we weren't ready to be parents, we talked about giving up the kid for adoption. My girl said she'd probably miss the kid someday, so... strike two! That left us with only one option, and believe me, it wasn't chatchi's idea. My girl suggested that we actually keep the baby and get married, so we can raise the kid in a proper home. That's okay, I never wanted to hang out with my friends again, anyway. And don't get me started about how much weight my girl was going to pack on. Faced with some difficult decisions, my girl and I turned to "The Unplanned Pregnancy Handbook: Real Life Stories, Resources and Information to Help You". Fortunately, the book is written at a reading level that will be acceptable for grades 7 and up (my girl don't read so good). We read about how pregnancy can be one of the happiest times in a woman's life. Yeah, when it's a PLANNED pregnancy. And when you don't have to bag groceries 60+ hours a week to pay the bills. Trust chatchi, unplanned pregnancies suck! I'm not the only one who thinks that, either. This book is filled with unplanned pregnancy stories from women of all walks of life. Let me tell you, it sounds like a lot of these girls had some serious trouble finishing high school on time because they were too busy taking care of their babies. Despite all of chatchi's bitchin' and moanin', the baby stays, and the wedding is back on.
Rating: Summary: Valuable Information, A++ Review: The Unplanned Pregnancy Handbook is an invaluable resource to a woman who is facing an unplanned pregnancy, or one who just wants to learn more about pregnancy. There is no other unplanned pregnancy book that I have come across that discusses programs such as WIC and maternity shelters. The book also has phone number and web sites. It takes a fare non judgemental look at the abortion process and also includes information on the different types of adoption, such as private adoption. Not to be confused with a boring handbook, this book includes real stories of women who have been faced with unplanned pregnancies. These stories seem very real and not manufactured to the topic. I recommend this book for your library, school or personal use.
