Summary: More than birth mothers-- a book for anyone
Review: Angela Dion writes wonderfully. Her topic may sound as if intrest might be limited to adopted children or birth mothers who have released a child for adoption. But Angela takes us beyond this area into the changes and maturing that occur in her own life over 20 years. This makes it of interest to anyone who enjoys biography.
Roberta Rogers, author, "Is That You, Lord?"

Summary: Dear Son: Letters from a birth mother
Review: I particularly enjoyed and was drawn into this book ... I am an adoptive parent. I have a 6 year old son I adopted when he was 3 days old.

Angela's book touched me in a very personal way ... it kept me up at nite, I could not put it down ... I was drawn in and really felt the raw emotions Angela was going through, and the heartache that comes from that decision she made. I think every prospective adoptive parent should have to read it during their pre-adoption classes. Birthmother's are sometimes seen as "less, or the bad guy" because of what they did (perhaps it was a child out of wedlock, unplanned, or perhaps she cannot support the child, or any of a million other reasons). I pray for my son's birthmother all the time, she gave life to MY SON - how can I see her as anything other than courageous, self sacrificing, and selfless - she gave up "herself" so I could have a child of my own - in a way I will love and respect her for that and pray for her always. Not a week goes by that I do not think about J's birthmother.

I know Angela personally and she shared with me, at the time of the adoption of my son, that she had given up a son. I am glad I got to share that experience with her through her writings about her sacrifice.

Summary: A Lot Of Fluff and Poop
Review: This book is too fluffy to have any significance in the life of a parent or child. Let's talk, instead, about how the kid wakes up and passes gas all over the house, or how a mother has to work 3 jobs to support the kid's cereal-eating obsession. The kid that reads this will laugh....as the little toy he ate earlier on drops out in his stool.

Summary: Gripping story of a young mother's turmoil
Review: This is a fast-paced story that grabs you from the beginning. I read it in one day and laughed, cried and felt like I was living it. The book was passed around to a couple of friends and they all felt the same way at the end, breathless. For those who think this is a lady's book, my male friend read it and had the same reaction. He said he wanted to slow down while reading it because the end was coming too fast but he also finished it without putting it down. The end of each chapter leaves you wanting to know what happens next and you just keep on reading.

Angela gives hope and inspiration to people everywhere by showing you can survive and go on living despite the hardest challenges.

I would highly recommend this book to everyone.

Summary: Walk in a birth mother's shoes
Review: Though I've never been in the authors position, by the end of this book (it's a fast read as you can't put it down), I felt I knew her and truly understood her heart: the pain, grief, anguish and finally after years of struggling with confusion and guilt, peace and understanding. Her writing style instantly draws you in to a visual and intensely emotional real-life experience.

An eye-, heart-, and mind-opener -- this book is important as we regularly walk obliviously in the midst of women struggling alone with this crucial and life-changing decision.

Summary: Definitely A Must Read
Review: When I first met Angela Dion about three or four years ago, she was in the process of writing and publishing "Dear Son". Through our friendship, she shared with me some of the details of her life, so I knew the premise of the book when it was finally published.

I'm saying this as an unbiased friend: This book is really awesome! I haven't read too many books that are as open, honest or raw as this one. I could not put it down and read it in one night! I could identify with much of what she went through. What makes this book so compelling is not so much Angela's painful experiences, but rather how God took those experiences to fashion an extraordinary woman.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who has experienced hurt pain and rejection to see how God can make a bad situation into an opportunity for healing.
