Summary: Every judge and lawyer should read this!
Review: Henley makes us aware of an out of sync and dishonest court system that allows abusive/controlling men take innocent children away from great moms and throwing their lives into complete turmoil. She does so in a way as to show all sides of the issue without bashing anyone. Children deserve both parents, and though there are both bad and good fathers and mothers, the issue of a biased court system that is full of people who are not qualified to make proper and educated decisions let alone put their own predjudices aside for the sake of children. These children grow up to be extremely dysfunctional adults who may turn to drugs, alcohol, sex, food, multiple bad relationships, crime, etc...it's time for America to wake up to what is happening and who is truly suffering through divorce and custody.
Way to go, Joy!

Summary: review
Review: I feel for the children involved in this book and hope life works out for them. The story was good but I found it to be questionable. The author was the only person who had a fourm to speak. I am sure there is another side to this story. There always is. I would have liked to hear all sides of it so I could get a better picture of what I'm suppose to be looking at. I hope that the children involved don't know about about this book. I can imagine the pain that it would cause them. The pain is not deserved and could damage them for a long time. I will pray for everyone involved

Summary: Controversial book you must buy!
Review: It is always interesting how people read a serious book like this and debate its truthfulness. It would be difficult to make up such a tragedy, with court documents floating out there. I would imagine when this author came forward and grew courageous enough to tell her story, she anticipated much of this disbelief. Isn't it easier to just say it's not true, than to face the alternative- that there are parents out there who do this to their children? I think sometimes people get so wrapped up in the validity of a story that the real severity and effects of the abuse escape them. It is obvious this author and her children have been put through hell by many. Her intent is also very clear: to warn others and help them. This seems to be her legacy- to show the world something positive from such a tragedy. In addition to "The Lord Above," I noticed she also dedicated the book to her sons, which is very kind and certainly a gesture of love. She must be very forgiving- probably more forgiving than I could ever be. This author is a courageous, brilliant woman who obviously rebuilt her life. Since this is the story that the Family Court system would not want you to see, I hope the whole world buys it!
