Rating: Summary: What a hypocrite!! Review: I bet this woman is an awful parent, she seems so incredibly insincere in her words. I pity the boy that would have to be raised by someone like Ann Laforge. Speaking of which, the boy on the cover is the cutest thing in the world!!
Rating: Summary: Have your kids ever driven you crazy with their tantrums? Review: I hate when kids have tantrums. And I love that there's now a book out there that will definitively help me. It's well-written, concise and thoroughly helpful. I totally recommend it.
Rating: Summary: Informative book Review: I read this book in one night and it really helped me to step back from my emotions and try to view my daughters' tantrums objectively. The book gave a broad overview of different problems and recommendations for improvement so that my individual situation could be applied to their examples.
Rating: Summary: Exactly what I needed ! Review: My 3-yr old son was having a difficult time with his tantrums. They were escalating and affecting our family. My 5-yr old daughter was frustrated with her brother and it was affecting her. My husband and I tried everything. This book is great. It gave us PRACTICAL advice and reassurance on the techniques to try. REAL EXAMPLES and practical lists like the do's and don'ts of tantrums. We've been better able to systematically try these techniques and actually understand better what techniques work best for him. Better still, the book is short, easy-to-read and handy to carry around (and share)! I'm very grateful for the help.
Rating: Summary: Disappointed Review: This book does not give any method for controling or preventing tantrums. It suggest things to try that we all know already from parenting magazines or friends. Such as holding your child during the tantrum & telling them that you're there for them. But, then the book jumps to saying that you should ignore your child, such as turning your back or leaving the room. If you're a new parent & are looking for several different suggestions you might like the book. However, if you are hoping for a book that outlines a method or steps to try this book will NOT help.
Rating: Summary: Buy this book! Review: What a relief - to find someone who understands what it feels like to be the parent of a tantrum-thrower! My just-5-year-old daughter started throwing hysterical tantrums overnight - she would melt down at the drop of a hat. I was the only parent I knew who had this problem with an "older" child, I like most other assumed that tantrums were a product of the "terrible twos". But the words in this book assured me that 5 year olds not only have tantrums, but they are in fact controllable with a few simple strategies. I read this book in one evening. The following day I began my new tantrum strategy and my daughter has been "cured" ever since. The book made me examine the way I handled the anger, how I spoke to her when she was starting to lose control and how I handled my own emotions in reaction to her lack of self control. This book is a life-changer and I would strongly recommend it to anyone who has a tantrum-thrower, it may not be the most in-depth volume available, but it is a great place to start and will change your whole outlook on the tantrums and the child who throws them.
