Summary: Read this if you want to be depressed!
Review: As a recently divorced dad, this looked like one of a good many books out there to help divorced dads through the pain, guilt and expected range of emotions that we will go through. It is unlike me to even take the time to write such a review as this. I don't even know where to begin in emphasizing to anyone considering this book...DON'T DO IT!! I dont even understand what the author is trying to accomplish with this book. Gerald S. Mayer (author) has done a fantastic job of throwing out statistics, "clinical" information and opinions that lead the reader to feel like divorce is worse than death and that our children will NOT be OK. His content is both very poorly organized, and looks to be nothing more than extreme case study pulled straight from text books on Clinical Psychology. There is no emotion or compassion for the father's emotions in this book. I think Dr. Mayer (who is a practicing Psychologist) needs to either step back and re-evaluate his intentions and compassion for EVERYone involved in the divorce circle(not just the kids), or quite possibly find a new profession. Please dont buy this book. It contains NO HOPE! Do check out "Be A Great Divorced Dad" by Dr. Kenneth N. Condrell. So, far there is some fantastic information, hope and inspiration within it.

Summary: Helpful, well-written, understanding
Review: This book "zeroes in" on the more difficult parts of fathering during and after divorce. It's not a "rah-rah" book, but it's real. Written by someone whose been there.
