Rating: Summary: An inspiring journey that shows the a powerful side of youth Review: What I think is so refreshing from Nancy's writings is her ability to capture the meaning and mission of young people working to make a difference in the world. It's a side of youth we so often don't see, and I hope this book will shatter the myth that all kids are apathetic, law-breaking, slackers. When I was a teenager, I had the fortunate opportunity of being interviewed by Nancy Vittorini for her "Everyday Heroes" column in react magazine. At the time, I was running a national environmental group for teens and did about 500 media interviews a year. I thought this might be a typical interview. But I was wrong. After Nancy's article ran in react, I received over 2,000 letters from teens wanting to join my group. In my ten years of activism, I have NEVER seen results like that. This book is a must-read for everyone. Give it as a gift to a friend, a neighbor, a niece or nephew, to your own kids. These inspiring stories will motivate you and others to help people in need and make our communities healthier places to live. All of us can be heroes with the help of this phenomenal book!
