Summary: Purposeful Parenting
Review: As a college chaplain, I have the opportunity to see highly functioning, effective adolescents and young adults. I also happen to see those who are nowhere near ready to deal with the real world. Often it is their family life which has made the difference. This book is one of the best at assisting parents in making their efforts purposeful while encouraging us to ease up on the constant anxiety about doing the "worst wrong thing." As both a parent and a facilitator of parenting workshops, I enthusiastically recommend this book as one of the best resources available.

Summary: I heard the author on the radio...
Review: I heard the author of this book (Jim Hancock) interviewed on the radio. Much of what he said there is the same as in his book. As a professional educator (I teach high school), I can heartily endorse this book. I would say that it should, however, be read by parents of small children. By high school, it can be too late to implement some of his ideas, although parents of high school students can also benefit from reading this book, because other of his ideas can still be useful.
