Summary: Excellent
Review: Because of its small size, this dictionary is not, and can't be, as comprehensive as large dictionaries. However, it does surprisingly manage to define the vast majority of words that even medical students/professionals will encounter. Moreover, the definitions are clear and concise with good technical depth, but still reasonably understandable for laymen. The KEY ADVANTAGE of this dictionary is that it is the smallest medical dictionary I've found, and the only one that can truly be called "portable." I frequently carry my copy with me. Finally, at this price, it's a steal.

Review: I looked at this book and some others, and my observations were this:1. This book was slightly easier to manually handle than the others, being about the size of an index card, and one inch deep. The others were fine, but I felt (literally) that I could search for words faster in this one. 2. This book by far had the best paper - bright white, not something with a dullness to it, like some of the others. 3. The text ink was one of the best, too - very clear and solidly printed (which was great in contrast to the bright white as noted in #2 above). 4. It has 8,000 terms, which is not as much as the other books I looked at. But I did a test: I looked up words that I could think of, and they were in there. So this book was sufficient for me. 5. This book has pronunciations for all of the words! This was the main goal of my search for a medical dictionary. This was its best feature. Other books had pronunciations, but not for all of the words, and one in particular (that I would have bought if it had pronunciations) did not have ANY pronunciations! How can you buy a book like that, and not be given the pronunciation of a word, like cholecystokinin. 6. The book has short descriptions of what each word means. This is the only reason why it did not earn five stars. Some of the other books had far lengthier definitions (which I liked), but again, they lacked all or most of the above qualities. P.S. If case you were wondering, I cannot remember the names of the other books I looked at. But I did buy this one. And for $... (which made it tied for the cheapest one out of the bunch), you can't go wrong.
