Summary: Not Worth the Paper It's Printed On.
Review: All opinions about the authors aside, this book is basically tripe. It's full of stereotypical wife-is-always-right-even-though-she's-being-a-shrew hooey. If your marriage works like that, bravo for you, but I found it pretty ridiculous.

And I did actually read the book- it was on the returns list in my bookstore.

Summary: Is this book supposed to be funny?
Review: Because it's not. Most of the 'tidbits' in here can be found on most email forwards. There is nothing original about this book, and it's really kind of passive-agressive in it's attempts to portray 'family harmony.'

And how interesting it is that all the positive reviewers have only written one review ever for Amazon. I'm sure, since this review is negative, one of said reviewers will object to this, but, before you base a purchase decision on positive praise, make sure you take that praise with a grain of salt and question why this was the only book those who love this book ever reviwed.

Summary: Older and Wiser
Review: I loved the simple truths of the book! Increasing communication with your spouse will definitley lead to intimacy and greater trust. I really liked rule 45 the best(always buy the house mama likes). It's funny, but oh, so true. This is a great investment for couples, marrieds and singles who want to have great relationships. I am going to buy several copies for friends!

Summary: So funny it hurts.
Review: The authors have taken every day situations that we all experience and really showed the humor in them. I was grateful to learn that I am not the only one that dodges tight situations with the spouse daily. There are so many funny parts of this book, everyone will relate to at least a few of them. AN EXCELLENT GIFT!

Summary: Amusing, Not bad
Review: The book is pretty funny. Not the marriage book to end all marriage books, but there is a little something for most people to take away from it and apply in their own lives. It lacks a certain personality and some of the advice is unscriptural so I only gave it a three.

The Televisionwithoutpityers (twopers as they call themselves) are now discussing how to write reviews that stick to the rules and make it appear as though they read the book, in order to "hit her [the author] in the pocketbook" because that's "the only thing that hurts people like that." This is a regular practice; they didn't like one conservative family on one documentary who had a lot of children and started trying to get those children taken away by social services!!!

Amazon, however, has a high standard and I hope that they continue to remove disruptions designed to impede and compromise the integrity of the review process.

Overall: worth reading but perhaps not worth buying new.

Summary: When Mama Ain't Happy Ain't Nobody Happy
Review: What a wonderful book for newlyweds as well as for those of us who have been married for awhile. I especially enjoyed reading what to do once a rule has been broken. I found it to be extremely humorous in light of the fact that the authors are addressing sensitive issues at times. I liked the idea that the rules are numbered...I've found myself going back to some of my favorite rules in the book quite often simply because I remembered the rule number. For some reason it seemed as if fifty-two was just the right number of rules for a book such as this one. I'm all for easy reading materials and this one fit the bill exactly. Lastly, not only did the title of this book catch my eye but also the actual cover.....it really stands out. It seems as though the authors really put a lot of thought and effort into it in order to draw attention to it and I can tell you without a doubt that it worked.

Summary: Every Husband's GUARANTEE !
Review: When Mama Ain't Happy is a funny book full of tips on how to maintain peace and happiness at home. I shared a few of the rules with my friends and their husbands during a recent gathering and the whole room was on the floor laughing. And there were more than a few knowing glances. I particularly like rule #47 "Tell your wife that you love her at least three times each day. Keep a tally sheet in your pocket, if necessary." The author is smart to provide tips on how to follow the rules since husbands are notoriously bad at following directions. This book is the perfect primer for husbands. It even has a test in the back of the book to rate how well a husband has learned the rules. I think the book does a terrific job of showing that love and a sense of humor are key ingredients to a happy marriage. I highly recommend this book!
