Rating: Summary: A Message for the Angry Teens Review: I was a rebellious teenager, and was positive I knew everything. I did not want to be told what to do, what to read, where to go, or what time to come home. Anyone who wants to get somewhere in life learns from the wisdom of others, as well as our own painful mistakes. Take whatever good you can find out of this book and use it to feel better about yourself, and make your future brighter. If something doesn't apply, just forget about it. If you find just ONE thing that will make a positive difference in your life, then it is worth it.
Rating: Summary: If this book dosn't help you...then you need help! Review: This book is one of the best pieces of literature I have ever read! Sean Covey explains every detail on how to improve yourself. Covey dosn't tell you what things you have done wrong, he tells you ways of improving yourself. It is your responsibility to realize what you have done wrong, and try to improve in that area. He uses a method called, Baby steps. Baby Steps come after the end of each chapter and tell you ways of improving yourself through what the previous chapter had been talking about. He is amazing! This book has made so many postive outlooks on life! I am eternaly grateful that I was given this book. I first bought his father's book; The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, and struggled through it. Finnaly I found this book, and have loved it since the first page! When I am older, I plan on reading his fathers. Fiinnaly there is a book out there with the potential of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens! I encourage Sean to keep writing. He has excellent talent in this field!
Rating: Summary: Very Helpful... for some Review: When I first picked this book up was last years. I was an unorganized sophomore who didn't care enough about her grades or much else. I read the first chapter and put it down because I got bored. About a month ago I picked it up again, now caring just a bit more about life and reality, and found it very helpful. Sean Covey goes on talking about how to improve yourself and your relationships with others using the 7 habits that brought his father to fame. Only this time, it's written in teen-speak. Each of the habits focus on a different aspect. Each one is needed to be mastered before you move up to the next. Many people complain about this book saying that it's "stupid" or "useless" and to tell the truth if I didn't let my boredom get the better of me back in sophomore year I might think the same way. In order to really get this book and use it as a helpful tool you must read it with an open mind (yes Sean dose over do it with the slang in some occasions) and you have to actually want things to be better. If your parents force it onto you, chances are it's not going to help as much. Though I have only been trying to live the habits for a couple weeks I have already seen slight changes in my life and my level of patience. I think that if this book was made for you, it will be a remarkable piece of work, but if it wasn't.... well you're better off trying another style. I hope you like it!
Rating: Summary: Worthless Review: Worthless...this book doesn't deserve any more of a review.
Rating: Summary: Turned my life around... Review: I got this book as a present three years ago, during junior year of high school. My life back then was pretty dull; I had few friends and no interests other than being an internet junkie. I quickly embraced the concepts provided in it. Today I have completely changed, due in large part to applying these seven habits. I'm a happier, stronger, more dynamic, compassionate person. I cannot stress how inspiring this book is. Buy it, and I hope it does as much for you as it has for me.
Rating: Summary: Gag me Review: If I could give this book a -47 stars I would. I had to read this for a class at school and it was pulled out for four months, and we "analyzed" each annoying habit and "looked into ourselves." I must say, I am not a better person from reading this book, all this book made me think was how much I would love to ram a pencil in my eye. While reading all I could think of was "No duh- I know this." How people don't seem to see the remedial redundancy of this horrid excuse of a self help book is beyond me. A waste of time, money, and brain cells.
Rating: Summary: college Review: This book helped me get into Berkeley. Anyone who says this book is a waste of time is probably at a junior college or is working at a fast food restaurant.
Rating: Summary: One jaded writer Review: ... This book helps build stronger families. I bought it for my 13 year old goddaughter and am waiting for my neice to become of age to get it for her as well. As with the other Covey family books, the brilliance is in the PACKAGING of things that we all know but sometimes fail to put into action. Sometimes, the failing to apply what we know works causes problems in our lives and with our families. What is there to be angry about?
