Summary: Teaching kids is easy if you use things they already know
Review: The great thing about this book is that you're teaching kids phonetic sounds by using items that they already know like a carrot, banana, raisins and other foods and so they can point at the picture themselves and say "carrot" while you read them the cute little story that goes along with the picture. The story, of course, is cute and silly and consists mainly of words starting with the same letter as the food item so that they keep hearing that same sound over and over again. Another thing that I really like is that the pictures are big and bright and will really grab the kids. I remember my favorite book as a a child were some old "Uncle Wiggly" books because they had the brightest, most vivid colors I'd ever seen. This book has that same kind of feel. Therefore, the children will look forward to looking at the pictures while you read them the stories and then, eventually, will be able to read the stories along with you. Very smart and very cute. I've been buying it as gifts for friends who are teachers (there is also a teachers edition) and my own nieces. Guaranteed to be a book your child will actually sit and read with you.
