Summary: A most wonderful fable
Review: I had to read this book in high school, and loved it. My teacher recommended to the class that everyone read this book over again in a few years. Well, after about 14 years, I did read it again, and loved it even more.

There is so much to take away from reading the story of this young boy going from planet to planet meeting adults of various sorts with various proclivities.

A strong recommendation for any and all age groups.

Summary: Classic of classic
Review: If you love fables and fairy tales this is a must! My students love the characters the Little Prince meets on his journey and they especially love the rose. There are many lessons in this book and that is why I feel even adults should read it. Also nice to add to your collection are: Aesop for Children (Winter), Grimm's complete fairy tales (Grimm), Great Children's stories (Richardson), The Butterfly (Singh). There are many other great children's books out there, but these were the ones I enjoyed the most. Oh, and I almost forgot the two classics that no children should ever be deprived of: The Little Prince (Exupery) and Charlotte's Web (White).

Summary: Here is a book one would wish to read
Review: If you liked The Little Prince here is one more great book for a child to read. My only regret is that I did not read this book years ago, when Gerald Durrell was living, so I could tell the author how much I love his book. The praises of "My Family and Other Animals" has been sung by many readers. What I would like to add is that Mr. Durrell has a wonderful gift for writing and observation. His book takes us on a journey to the sun-drenched island of Corfu, that for Mr. Durrell is a place near to paradise. The natural world he is surrounded by fascinates him, and the reader, as we are introduced to the varieties of creatures that inhabit the island. We come to appreciate the life that can be found in a ditch filled with water. Then, there are the animals Mr. Durrell collected as pets: Quasimodo the pigeon, Ulysses the owl and the Magenpies. This is to say nothing of his dogs: Roger, Widdle and Puke. I only wish there could have been photographs in this edition.

Coupled with this are wonderful portraits of his mother, two brothers and sister and their sometimes eccentric guests, along with the people of Corfu they meet. From the moment the Durrells arrive on Corfu, followed by a pack of dogs, their adventures are non-stop. One wishes for the chance to have been on Corfu and be able to pay a visit to whatever villa they happened to be living in. "My Family and Other Animals" is a book that you will not want to end

Review: I think this book was very thouching especially at the end. The more you read it the more you will fully understand it. I think that this books is not one of those books that you read once then forget about it but it tuely speaks to your imangination. I think this book is just wonderful. It shows the child's point of view then the adult that is just amazing, and you even know what they are talking about. It doesn't matter what size this book is, it is wonderfully inspiring

Summary: What are you thinking, Harcourt?
Review: First of all, this is my favorite book, ever, and gets five stars. When I'm very sad or going through a difficult time, reading this little book always cheers me up and makes me feel happy. It makes the world seem right again and makes me see with my heart. And it makes me cry in that very good way we all (those who cherish this book) love so much.

However, the new translation is simply dreadful, and gets one star. It somehow manages (with a few exceptions) to miss the charm of the original at every step. The original English translation, by Katherine Woods, is a classic, and Harcourt's attempt to "improve" it seems ill-informed and gratuitous to me. I see from a number of other reviews that I'm not the only one who feels this way, so I hope that Harcourt comes to their senses and goes back to the original before it's too late. I'd hate to think that future generations will know this book only by its new translation, and will never know how exquisite it was before that.

If you've never read this book or are going to buy a copy, please get an old one (Woods translation) so as to maximize your enjoyment while at the same time foiling Harcourt's dastardly plot to destroy a classic.

Summary: The Little Prince
Review: When I first started to read this book I was wondering why I was reading this book for an Advanced Placement class. By the time I was finished I realized that this book is so deep I dont know if I will ever get the full meaning.
The book is good for children because of how it is written. The author tells about the little prince's adventures on different planets and on the earth. Its very imaginative and simple. Because of this, I didnt see the many underlying messages at first.
I dont want to spoil anything so lets just say that once I was done with this book I was a changed. It gave me new insights to the world around me that I had never thought about.
I came away fromt his book with on of the best feelings. I have never been so excited after a book, Im usually just thankful Im finally done. This book I actually want to read again.
This book is great for both chidren and adults.
I reccomend it to EVERYONE.

Summary: Great for children and adults!
Review: This book has such a positive reflection for today's youth as well as the average adult. This book allows children to use their imagination, while adults gain a deeper, more philosophical meaning. I would recommend this book to people from all ages, to entertain the child within.

Summary: A must read
Review: This book is good for people of all ages. When read as a childrens story, it can be a fun and interesting story about a prince who goes and visits other planets. However, when you read it and recognize the books allegorical qualities it becomes a much deeper read...

The author tries to show us that you should try to be happy when going through life. It doesn't matter what we do with our lives, its how we've lived. It also doesn't hurt to try recapturing your lost childhood innocence once in a while. And finally, that the world would be a much better place if grownups would just have more imagination, and be less serious.

Summary: It's a Wonderful Book
Review: This book is a marvel of modern literiture. It encompasses ideas of philosophers, like Plato, and great writers, like Tolstoy, while keeping the text and story simple enough to make a child giggle with delight. You should buy this book, not only for you but for your family. You should let all who have an imagination borrow it. The more people who have read this classic the better.
