Summary: Absolutely the Most Relevant Fairy Tale of all Time......
Review: This tale applies so much to lessons of our everyday life. And a real tearjerker. I re-read this book every year. How nice to be reminded that "it is only with the heart that one can see rightly, what is essential is invisible to the eye!"

Summary: Old Version is Better
Review: I bought The Little Prince, which I have loved for 40 years, for a special present. Glancing through it I became more and more dismayed. Where is the wonderful description of the flower, "unique in all the world?" Where is the graceful and touching goodbye of the fox to the prince? This "stunning new translation" is a great disappointment. I am buying several copies of the older version while they are available since it is now out of print. New readers will not know the felicity of language that we older readers have appreciated.

Summary: Wonderful Book - Although it may start slow
Review: I read this about 2 years ago, before this book was popularised by the press. It's wonderful. Makes me realised how much I have become an "adult" and not being able to see things like a child. Don't get me wrong - I am not saying we shouldn't grow up. The truth is, we sometimes complicate matters unnecessarily just because it seems to be the "grown-up" way of doing things. If only we can combine the practicality of grown-ups and the clarity of children. This is a must-read.

Summary: Huge Disappointment
Review: I was excited that a new translation of this lovely book was out... until I read it. This translation has eliminated most of the poetry of language that made Katherine Wood translation of Saint-Exupery's book a classic in the first place. This includes a translator's note that sounds exceedingly pompous once you have read this new translation. I would not stock this book in my library, give it as a gift, or even donate it. What a disappointment!

In contrast, the Katherine Woods translation of this book is one of the finest books to ever come my way. In beautiful, spare poetry, she relays Saint-Exupery's lessons about life, teaching us that "what is essential is invisible to the eyes."

Summary: Good things come in small packages . . .
Review: Far be it for this adult to attempt to explain this exquisite little treasure. Although the interpretation from French to English seemed a little shaky at times, I'm sure each reader will discover the little truths, and major messages The Little Prince reveals. A short read that will resonate within you for a lifetime . . . if you're lucky.

Summary: The Little Prince Review
Review: This book is a *classic*! Although it's a children's book, anyone can read this and relate to it. Children will enjoy it for the simple message it hints at the beginning, which is that adults don't understand anything! =) And adults will enjoy the book because they can look back and think about their childhood memories. Not to mention the illustrations are great - especially the "hat"! =) Get the book - you will not be disappointed.

Summary: A minimalist masterpiece
Review: This book is a small jewel of this century's literature. It is so atypical, so abstract at times. The plot is irrelevant, what matters are the apparently simple but very deep mini-lessons in the philosophy of life. I would say, the wise, simple and smart philosophy of life. It is rather sad in some parts, but Saint-Exupery's writing retains control all the time, keeping a strict and careful balance between tenderness and irony. The story is simple: a pilot is forced to land in the middle of the Sahara, as his plane has a malfunction. As the guy is desperately trying to fix it, anguished at the possibility of not being able to do it and then be lost in the desert, a small prince comes along. A prince? Just like that, a European prince who then tells the story of his life, of his wanderings in planet after planet. You are then in the presence of one exotic piece of the "literature of the absurd". And the magic works out, for no reader ever forgets the character and the lessons he teaches without being conscious of it.

Summary: A sad, but wonderful read!
Review: This book is one of my all-time favorites. I have read it so many times that I have lost count, but each time I learn something more and see something I never saw before. The author produces this wonderful book that has his story and the little prince's. It tells of the little prince's journey and of what he learns. He meets a king, a geographer, a fox, a lamplighter, and several others who all teach him things about his life and the friend he left behind, the rose. We can learn with him about true friendship, for this book really does teach about life and how to deal with it.

Summary: A magnificently written book with beautiful messages
Review: This book, from a view of an innocent child with hidden beautiful messages is just gorgeously written. Every time you reread this book, it will become a whole new book with different important messages you might have never noticed in your life.
