Summary: One of the five best books I have ever read.
Review: This is a children's book, no matter what people say. This doesn't mean grown-ups can't read it, but only that those who have a child's heart or at least a little something left from their childhood would be able to understand it -and love it-.

I was 5 years old when first I read it. Since then, I have always loved this wonderful book, and I read it every now and then -I'm 21-. In my opinion this book is about love. Love like that from children, that is so simple that is complex to understand it.

Everybody may have his/her own understanding of The Little Prince,- or "El Principito" as I know it because I read it in spanish first, and the english, and then french, that I recommend if you speak any other language-. Some people think the 'rose' meant 'childhood', some others may think it means 'the beloved one',etc. That's why this little book is so fantastic. We don't have to agree on what does it mean because that's grown-up's business.

Every single page is full with a simple life philosophy that is unlikely to read it and not getting any benefit from it (well, only if you are too grown-up to understand it, like those who said that it is impossible to travel with a flock of birds in the space, or that is dangerous to let your children read suicide-related stories... we have to understand them and be patient with them... they are grown-ups. You'd better talk them about ties, business, or golf. They will be thrilled to find such a reasonable person like you.)

My favorite part of the book? I don't have any. All the book is an art-work.

Summary: Intelligent and humane book
Review: 'Little Prince' is a marvellous book presenting a valuable view of life and human nature written in a childish fable style. Antoine De Saint-Exupery succeeds in being unostentatious in presentating his point of view while some other authors tend to be more insistent in trying to teach their readers. On my personal point of view this book holds lots of lore that could be adopted by humans to preserve their humanity. I was so astonished by this work that re-read it for second time immediately after finishing my first read. And I think there is no piece of text that is not meant to be interpreted by the reader in more abstract way. The uniquiety of this book for me is that it will probably appeal to a child although will be interpreted in a totally different way. Furthermore - it could probably be interpreted in a different way by every person who reads it. And that's a thing that cannot be achieved easily.

Written more than 50 years ago during World War II, messages that this book holds can be related to nowadays world without any modification. And I'm sure this will not change after another 50 years.

There is some magic in the character of Little Prince - he behaves like a child, he is pure like a child and thinks and acts firstly as a human being. In his presense adults acting in a reasonable way, conforming to society invented unnatural criterias look funny and incomprehensible. I noted that there was not a single character in the book that was evil in nature, although some of the characters will hardly wake up possitive attitude in the reader's mind. And every character represents something - be it human characteristic and chosen way of life (all inhabitants on planets Little Prince visited before coming on Earth) or an inevitable point in life cycle (the snake could be interpreted as the death) or simply what your minds wraps around the character. A metaphor I found very worthy (one of the many) is that of the unique rose. The Little Prince finds uniquety of his rose through the cares he has put for her. Also the water that the narrator and Little Prince find in the desert after a tough wandering and retrieved wistfully. That water was some kind enriched when finally reached. Or the simplicity of the Little Prince's planet compared to the complexity of the possessions on planet Earth. And that fact opposed to the love and devotion Little Prince feels to his home planet... I can go like this till I cite almost everything from the book.

This piece of literature art is brief in words, but possesses concentrated content rich in meaning. A must read book.

Summary: A truly beautiful book
Review: The Little Prince is a children's book for adults. The reader can see this clearly as early on as the dedication where it reads: "TO LEON WERTH- I ask the indulgence of the children who may read this book for dedicating it to a grown-up. I have a serious reason: he is my best friend I have in the world. I have another reason: this grown-up understands everything, even books about children. I have a third reason: he lives in France where he is hungry and cold. He needs cheering up. If al of these reason are not enough, I will dedicate the book to the child from whom this grown-up grew. All grown-ups were once children-- although few of them remember it. And so I correct my dedication: TO LEON WERTH when he was a little boy" There is and never shall be a book written with more love and compassion for life such as The Little Prince.

Summary: Lost in Translation
Review: This is just a note to say beware of the new translation if you've previously read and enjoyed the Katherine Woods version. Mr. Howard makes the argument in his "translator's note" that the language has changed since the 1940's and that a new translation is needed. I couldn't disagree more. And I [do] speak with some experience on this subject: I read this title at school in the original French language for three different classes, as well as numerous times in English (the Woods version). Katherine Woods beautifully captured the feel of the French original. The new, Howard translation is in a more modern English which mostly succeeds at removing the poetry that previously existed and little else that I can find. It does not make the story any more clear or nuanced than it previously was, rather less so. I find the arguments for a new translation indefencible.

Three stars is not a review of the book, but of the translation. This title is beyond excellent, but you might do yourself a favor and find a used copy with the Woods translation (there are many copies out there). Enjoy!

Summary: "The grown-ups are certainly very, very odd..."
Review: Deceptive in its simplicity, this book holds more wisdom than Confuscius himself. However, no one should attempt to analyze and symbolize things from this book because it is meant to be taken just as it is; analysis would be something adults would do! Take it for what it is, enjoy it, interpret it, learn from it, and love it. It is the The Best Book i've ever read. Absolutely marvelous!!!

Summary: ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS EVER!!!!!
Review: I read this book in my 5th grade class last year, and I loved it!!! It was so wonderful and really made you think about life, death, and that the things that are really impoortant are invisable! I REALLY SUGGEST YOU READ THIS BOOK!!! It brings you to thinking about imaginary things that everyone dreams about (that are extremely real in this book). So live your biggest dream and READ THIS BOOK!

Summary: The Little Prince...I Don't really like it.
Review: This books is just not my type of book. I did not really get anything from this book because I have to go over the metaphors before I can understand it. Anyways, this book tells the grown ups all over the world that they can still use their imaginations even though they have matured and have a job. This is some connections I heard from Einstein. Einstein said that Imaginations are more important than knowledge because Imagination creates knowledge. This book made me read it even though I wasn't very interested to it because it makes me think deeply of some words that are hard to understand and while I read the book, it reminded me of my childhood because I use to use my imaginations, ofcourse, probably all the kids use their imaginations. Now that I have grown, I forgot about imagining because I've grown up a lot. Just like in the book, when the little prince was growing up, he is losing his imaginations.

Summary: Figuratively Interesting
Review: The Little Prince is a book full of wonders. It brings out the real thoughts of things you wouldn't really think about. After reading this book, I was a little perplexed by what all of the authors figurative language meant, but after a long time of thinking I understood what it was all about. It is about love and friendship and thinking deeply about or for something or someone. There was one sentence that really came out of the book and caught my attention. It was "What is essential, must be seen with the heart". This really made me think about how true it is. There are so many feelings and emotions that are only seen with the heart. And one of them is love. It is the most essential emotion of all. That is why I think the main themes in this book are love and friendship. I have learned a lot from this book as well. One main thing that I have learned is how to identify figurative language. It might be confusing at first, but after you understand, you feel really good about your self. If you want a very good book to read, don't choose this one, but if you are a figurative kind of person, then this is the book for you.

Summary: Fairy tale or Complex?
Review: One thing i liked about this book was that it was short. But the problem was, was this a fairytale or was it a thick complex book that was summerized into pictures and quotes?i was amazed by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry because around that time there was a war going on, i beilive it was world war 1 but how could he want to right a book during a time or violance and distractions from almost every part of the world.
Overall i think this was a simple book with a strong mess to life. i still dont understand the messege and i hope to read the book again in a few years.

Summary: New outlook on life
Review: At first, I thought this book was the strangest book I had ever read. I wondered why I had to read this. I was to old for this! I told myself. However, you don't get the true meaning of the book until you reflect on it. Almost every page has a deeper meaning than first meets the eye. The lessons tought in this book will change your outlook on life, and make you think about life in a different way. I am glad I read this book and would definitly recomend it to everyone, young and old.
