Summary: INCREDIBLE BOOK!
Review: L LIVE IN MEXICO AND LOVE TO READ IN ENGLISH. THIS WAS THE FIRST BOOK I READ FROM MRS. SPENCER AND TOUCHED MY HEART. I LOVE THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN LEE AND CHRIS. LOVE IS AGELESS! YOU MUST READ IT TOO.

Summary: Finally, A Book about an Older Woman and a Younger Man!
Review: Once again I am rating a book by how many paragraphs or pages I skimmed. In essence, the more I skim, the less I end up liking the book. In Family Blessings I found myself reading scences over and over again because the characters were that well developed and interesting.

This book can be divided into three parts: Lee and Chris dealing with the grief of losing a loved one; then confronting their growing feelings for each other; and lastly, surviving the censure of their families.

What makes this book so interesting is that the reader gets the feeling that this is a gradual process, that the entire love affair did not happen in two weeks as some romance novels are wont to do. These are not cardboard characters who automatically believe in the power of love but grow to understand its significance in their lives. The feelings that Lee and Chris experience, and the doubts they have about the longevity of their relationships are believable, as are their solutions to these problems.

I highly recommend this book! It is a great read about wonderful characters.

Summary: An emotionally charged ride. Bring lots of tissues!
Review: Once again LaVyrle Spencer brings us an emotionally charged book. A rollercoaster ride of true human emotion ranging from hell to heaven. Lee Reston widow, mother and business woman is once again confronted with personal tragedy when she learns her oldest son, Greg, has been killed while riding his motorcycle. Chris Lallek, Greg's best friend and roommate accepts the difficult responsibility of informing Lee of her loss. Together they grieve and give each other strength to get through this tragedy. Coming from a dysfunctional family, Chris has never known what it's like to be part of a "normal" family. Lee and her family include Chris in family and holiday get-togethers. They form a warm friendship which soon turns to feelings of love. They have many obstacles to overcome but in the end they find their happiness in being together as a real family. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and hope you will too. Cindy Jacob

Summary: Wonderful Summer Read
Review: Simply captivating! I sat down with this novel and finished it in a day because I absolutely couldn't put it down. I felt like I knew each of the characters, especially the hearts of Lee and Christopher. So much that I find myself thinking about them and wondering if there are people out there living their lives. This is the perfect book if you are looking for a beach read or just want a good, relaxing book for a rainy afternoon. I laughed and I cried, no doubt. This being the first LaVyrle Spencer book that I've picked up, I can't wait to get my hands on another!

Summary: Everything a Romance Should Be
Review: The cover of my copy is in tatters I've read it so often - and then passed it around to everyone I know!

Noone is better than LaVyrle Spencer at creating genuine, warm characters that you feel like you know and whose fates you come to care deeply about. In FAMILY BLESSING she's outdone herself. Chris Lallek is the perfect hero: Warm, kind, funny, and the type of guy you can lean on - or cry with. Not a stereotypical romance-novel "knight on a white horse" - just an real man. And, I've never liked a heroine more than Lee Reston. She's what I've come to think of as the archetype LaVyrle-Spencer-woman: She's a grown-up - her body isn't perfect anymore, there are lines on her face, and she isn't coming into love this time innocent, or unscarred. She's strong and experienced, and she knows her own mind - but, she's not Superwoman. Like all of us, she has insecurities and fears and doubts, but she's determined to take life head-on and to grab every bit of joy she can. She's the type of person you'd want to be friends with - and you'll find yourself cheering for her.

It's a joy watching these two people find one another - and you do feel like you're "watching" it happen. LaVyrle has managed to capture beautifully that magic process through which friendship and respect is transformed into something deeper. When love finally blossoms for Lee and Chris you'll find yourself cheering - and maybe shedding a tear or two.

Summary: Heartwrenching tale
Review: This awesome book had me crying from the very beginning. I've read it at least 3 times and admit I cry every time, even though I know what's going to happen. I agree, the movie was the pits - it doesn't even begin to do the book justice, but the book is always better than the movie.

Lee and Christopher both overcame so much, you just knew they deserved some happiness together. And Ms. Spencer doesn't disappoint. I've read all of her books except one (and I'll get to it) and have enjoyed most of the immensely. A few of them fell flat and left me thinking, "She can do better than this!", but Family Blessings is absolutely terrific. I have no doubt I'll read it again. Ms. Spencer, please tell us "And Then Came Heaven" isn't the end!

Summary: Wish I loved it, but I didn't
Review: This book was ok, but it didn't really do much for me. The begining was very emotional but it couldn't keep my attention after getting half way through the book. Too many your too young and I'm too old discussions and I became bored. It was refreshing to see an older woman with a younger man for a change and the characters were well developed. I enjoy this author and will still continue to read her books when I find them.

Summary: Excellent book....a keeper.
Review: This is one of my favorite books and I highly recommend it. The plot is strong and realistic. The story centers around the death of a grown child and the mothers bond and later romance with a friend of her deceased child. It demonstrates the double standards that exist in our culture concerning age differences between men and women in relationships.

Summary: Recommended!!!!!:-)
Review: This was a good book! I have read other books by her and have enjoyed them also. My favorite was November of the Heart. I recommend this book to others. The characters were realistic and even though you knew the ending it was still fun to read.
