Summary: Great ideas for anytime
Review: This book is a great resource for activities to do with children at any time of the day - not just after school. There is a different activity on each page and each comes with a list of supplies. Some activities require only participation. This book has been a great help to me when I just have this mental block, and I can't think of a great activity when we need one. You should flip through the book and identify the supplies that you could begin collecting - like empty toilet paper rolls, etc. It is kind of hard to come up with l0 empty rolls to play 'bowling' with, if you haven't planned ahead! On the days when I have a babysitter coming, I leave the activity page marked, and the supplies out on the kitchen table, and it gives the babysitter something instant to keep them busy when they get home. The ages are listed from 5-l0, but I don't think participants are limited to this group. My teenager loves playing some of these games. Some are also good for long trips - the word association, and 'scavenger hunt' ideas are great! I will give this to my teenager when she babysits other children, to give her a simple way to keep the children occupied with games that may be different than their own toys. She can even make a 'travel kit' to take with her (with those empty toilet paper rolls!)so she can do some of the activities without having to search through the house. I recommend this book to anyone from church nursery workers, teachers, activity directors, parents, babysitters, big sisters and anyone else who may be responsible for entertaining children in a creative and enjoyable way.
