Summary: Two opposable thumbs way way up!
Review: Dino-Trekking is the best guide to finding dinosaurs --- and appreciating them once you've found them --- to come along since the dinosaurs were trekking themselves. Engaging, lively, and thorough.
Don Lessem,
Founder, The Dinosaur Society and author of Dinosaurs Rediscovered

Summary: Information old and inaccurate
Review: If this was an updated version of the book perhaps it would hold value. In ...[this time period] it is mostly frustration. My son and I spent hours writing to the various museums and organizations and even catalog recommendations in the book to get further information and to plan for an upcoming road trip. Most of the mail returned to us unopened!! ...Very disillusioning for my son. Even the "Dino Trekking" society the author supposedly belongs to is EXTINCT! The book is cute for kids and does list places in the U.S. that have fossils but it is inaccurate now. Some museums have combined or closed. If you use any information from this book please check on the accuracy, it is an old book.
Many updated family and other dinosaur digs and terrific activities for enthusiasts are completely ignored in this book. Check it out at the library and check on the facts!!! BE warned.

Summary: An excellent and fun resource...
Review: If you love dinosaurs, you have to buy this book. It is well-written, colorfully illustrated, and an excellent guide to dinosaur exhibits around the nation. The fact that this book sells so well on Amazon three years after publication should attest to its merit.

Summary: WAS a great book...and will be again.
Review: Unfortunately, I have to agree with the reviewer who said DINO-TREKKING was out of date. It is -- badly. And Wiley refused to allow me, the author, to revise it. But there is good news. Now that the rights have reverted back to me there will be a NEW Dino-Trekking from a new publisher on the way. So watch my website -- ... -- for an Amazon link to the version soon. And enjoy the old classic until that new book arrives. Best always...Kelly.

Summary: Easily accessible info about an endlessly fascinating topic
Review: While I enjoyed the fun facts and dino-destinations in Dino-Trekking, my four year old son absolutely adores the sketches in the book; so much so that he sometimes sleeps with the book beneath his pillow.

I like how the different dinosaur sites are presented by state, and I also appreciate the useful site ratings. Halls describes the cost to see each site, whether it is a museum or a dinosaur amusement park, and she also ranks the quality of each.

And, while she is obviously an expert on the subject, she is able to provide lots of important data in an easy-to-read and fun manner
