Summary: Fathers should go home to sleep while mom stays in hospital?
Review: I just glanced through this book last night, and I have to agree with the other review. I couldn't BELIEVE how it told a new father to ditch his wife in the hospital and go home and get a good nights sleep! How much sleep do you think your wife has gotten since getting pregnant between morning sickness and getting up to pee every two hours?!? And then to go through hours of labor, just to have you leave and go home to sleep at the end of it, leaving her to take care of a newborn by herself? Sure there's nurses, but they wake you up to check your vitals every few hours, and even if a nursery does keep the baby overnight, they will wake you up to breastfeed! And then your wife has months to go with no sleep again! And the husband is the one who gets to go home that night and get a good nights sleep? That statement is going to get a lot of husbands/new dads in a LOT of trouble, IF they are dumb enough to listen to it. There is no way my husband will be leaving me in the hospital to go home and sleep. Course I will be having a c-section so I will need him there. My last c-section the nurses chose to watch TV and socialize than take care of me and help me to the bathroom. So I doubt I will be passing this book along to my husband to read. I would suggest She's having a Baby- And I'm Having a Breakdown, or What to Expect when Your Wife is Expanding. This book also is not sorted into months of pregnancy or trimesters even, but one chapter is dedicated to sex during pregnancy! I would steer away from this one.

Summary: Absolutely Dreadful...avoid at all costs!
Review: My husband was given this book during our pregnancy and as he read from it aloud, we both quickly realized that it was extremely negative. Instead of encouraging fathers to bond with the baby for positive reasons, the writer suggests that most marriages end in divorce so fathers should bond with the child while they can!! The writer is also very negative about the pregnant woman's experience and gives the father advice on how to 'cope' with this dreadful experience. We both put the book down very quickly as it seems to be written for men who want to get through the whole process as if it is a dreaded trip to the dentist. DO NOT BUY SUCH A NEGATIVE, UNINSPIRING BOOK!!! there are many other books out there that are far more productive, encouraging and useful for future fathers-to-be.
