Rating: Summary: A moving enlightening soul searching celebration of life. Review: A deep spirituality shines through this book. I sincerely hope that many people read it. A Woman's Voice made this husband and father greatly appreciate my family's journey without the loss this author survives. Ms. Adler made me realize that it takes guts, compassion, wisdom and soul to continue the journey. Anger is an obtacle. It made me wonder if I have the same courage to go on. This book speaks from the heart of a gifted artist who has honed her craft. Buy it. Read it. Share it with friends and relatives.
Rating: Summary: BORRING & SLOW READING Review: I started reading this book last night.... it is super. I thought i would read a few pages.... and ended up reading for an hour! I am exhuasted! This book touches the heart... it is true and right on the point!
Rating: Summary: BORRING & SLOW READING Review: I understand that we all have to earn a living, but why bore probably thousands of readers with this sappy, overly and uninspired attempt at sentimental writing? It seems obvious after reading this book that the author was just playing at readers' emotions in the pursuit of delving into our pocketbooks. The author scribbles a never ending ramble of events which have little or no relation to one another. While I respect the real life(???) tradgedies the author relates to the reader, I must say this book was for the most part, slow, daunting, uninspired/ing, and tiresome reading.
Rating: Summary: Columns I could identify with Review: Thi is a book of Marks's columns mostly about her everyday life. I found them columns I could identify with, and enjoyed reading her book.

Rating: Summary: a reflection on contempory life with wit and compassion Review: This book, a compilation of 12 years of Marlene Marks' columns for The Jewish Journal of Greater Los Angeles, is a warm, knowing companion. With careful attention to detail, honesty and openness, Marks shares her journey from her husband's death to the present. From her experiences dating again to how a single mom does Shabbat (a microwaved baked potato for her, four frozen fish sticks for her daughter), to coping with the holidays as a member of the sandwich generation, Marks reflects on contemporary life with wit and compassion. A pleasure to read and a lovely gift for any woman trying to cope with the pressures of work and family.
