Summary: show me the proof
Review: I'm still waiting for the slew of evidence from the police and hospitals. One of the readers wrote that the author claims they are real so maybe he could share them. This book was told by one person who had a long time to think about it and frankly I would have liked to hear the other side....do we really know everything she said is true ? No we do not and I for one will need at least some proof.Remember don't believe everything you read !

Summary: Unbelievable Life for Children
Review: It is very hard for me to believe that any one person could possibly become a victim each and every time she meets someone. First her disgruntal family, then not one husband but two. The warden at the prison. The inmates at the prison. The people she worked with. Her husbands family. Her daughters. The system taking care of her children.

She places much emphasis on trying to get away with murder. There is not much mention about the heart-ache she placed on her children by taking their fathers life. It makes me wonder what the publishing of this book has done to her children.

...Why wouldn't June want her husbands family to take the children where they could find comfort and love, instead of throwing them into a disgruntal family and then on to foster homes. June states she did this horrible act for the children as well as her. What good did she do her children but place them in the hands of strangers.

Maybe June had a hard life; but, she surely didn't make it any easier for her children. What kind of life did she give them. It seems to me that she focused more on herself than her children.

Summary: Read this Book!
Review: The book description provided doesn't hint at how amazing it is. As a self confessed true crime 'junkie', I couldn't put it down, and finished the book within 4 days (1 of which I nearly skipped work to keep reading!) Living in this modern world, the majority of readers will no doubt think (as I did), why didn't June Briand leave her husband? - the question is answered numerous times throughout the book. Jimmy Briand was a 'control freak' in almost every sense and appeared very good at it! His threats that he would kill her if she tried to leave were not idle, and he ensured she had neither opportunity or means to do so. As a woman reading June's story my heart went out to her. People can be so cruel, and I'm sure most of us can relate to 'changing' or adapting to please a new boyfriend and attain happiness in our lives. This book opened my eyes to the complexity of domestic abuse, and I'm thankful that I have not been subjected to it.

Summary: Incredible Journey
Review: This book is a heart wrenching story about a woman who had no where to go an no one to turn to. It shows just how devastating it can be to be trapped in an abusive relationship. Although she climbs her way out of the hell that she lived in you still cry for her when she is facing the rage of her husband.

It is refreshing to see that the services available to victims of domestic violence have grown over the years. I would reccomend that you read this book if you are a victim, a survivor, a friend, or just have a compassionate heart.

Summary: Thought-provoking
Review: This is a true story about a battered woman named June who eventually killed her abusive husband. It is a tragic story. Her husband was a monster who put her through so much before she finally pulled the trigger one night and killed him. The story is about a woman's struggle to survive and thrive in a chaotic, cruel world. Recommended, but beware it can be graphic!

Summary: Phenomenal Read!
Review: This true crime book reads like Truman Capote's IN COLD BLOOD. It is an absolute page turner that cannot be put down. The pace and tension are terrific and the insights into what a woman in this situation goes through are riveting. This is disturbing, gripping, and exhilarating all at once. This woman had tremendous courage and her story, while heartbreaking, is one everyone must read to truly understand the horrors of domestic violence. This book really reads like a face-paced novel. Great read and great job by the author.

Summary: Informative and Riveting Book
Review: This was one rollercoaster ride of a book that I could not put down. The author does an excellent job of penetrating the day to day life of a woman repeatedly abused by her husband. The scenes are very graphic and, through the author, the readers witness what must have been a horrifying life for June Briand. I did read the negative reviews from those who seemed to be personally connected to the case; however, the author stated that there were a slew of hospital and police records which confirmed Mr. Briand's bad temper and abuse of his wife. I find it hard to believe that Ms. Briand would have been pardoned had there not been good evidence to support her rehabilitation and allegations of abuse. I am surprised that her public defense attorneys did not conduct a thorough investigation such as NOW did. Additionally, this book handedly answers the often asked question, "Why doesn't she leave?"
