Rating: Summary: Awesome Review: Joyce has a way of pulling the reader into the lives of each of the characters. The suspense is captivating. The pain brought tears to my eyes, anger swelled and boiled inside of me. A wonderfully written real-life experience!!!!
Rating: Summary: One of the Best Books I Have Ever Read Review: Joyce Marbury's novel addresses sensitive themes in a tactful manner, displays her unique style of writing, and captivates the reader with its spellbinding, constantly twisting plot.It is a privilege to read a novel that confronts the hidden horrors of pedophilia and the challenges of healing oneself in the wake of its trauma. Furthermore, the reader is amazed as Marbury's characters overcome addictions and seek healthy relationships by pursuing real world solutions. Rarely in a novel do characters encounter so many obstacles, and overcome them so realistically. Stylistically, Marbury shifts perspective constantly, allowing readers to see and experience the events in the lives of each of her characters. Marbury's intimate approach enables the onlooking reader to become a direct participant in the novel. Marbury is the mistress of plot. Unexpected events are followed by even more unexpected events until the reader feels totally immersed in the action of Marbury's work. The reader clings to her or his seat as streetwise thugs enforce vigilante justice, drug dealers' minds race out of control during blown deals, and high-level syndicate bosses execute those who have begun vendettas based on the most sordid iniquities in the lexicon of human emotion. In addition to the fact that Marbury is a master of the craft of writing, her novel is exceptional because she has invested so much of herself in it. Marbury has something that I respect as much as any other quality in a writer. She has guts. She sits down at a keyboard and has the boldness and courage to write how she feels. She has shared not only a story with her readers, but also a piece of her life. I am grateful to have experienced what can only be described as one of the most moving and thrilling novels I have ever read.
