Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: A Parents Bible for Helping Their Kids Review: I decided to pick up a copy of this book -- since I had read "A+ Teachers" by Erika Shearin-Karres -- and this book is equally excellent! In reading the various tips and ideas here, I became excited myself -- and motivated -- about wanting to learn more and gain more education ( maybe even return to school myself!). I find Dr. Karres to write in such a down-to-earth way that makes perfect sense. And she clearly has compassion and passion for education, kids, and the relationships between parents and kids. I love the sections in this book about teaching kids to love reading and how they can feel so empowered by very SIMPLE guidance and messages we can give them. Also, the section on notetaking tips is wonderful. This book made me feel good, too, because so much I thought that I had forgotten, as a busy adult and Mom -- it has opened my eyes as to how much I really do know. It is not only bringing me closer to my own child with ways to better communicate about and inspire her to succeed in her own education and school-- it is giving us incredibly useful tips on broadening our general knowledge and worlds with basic tools and approaches to learning. This book would be an excellent and reasonably-priced gift item for anyone who works with or cares to inspire kids -- and an ideal title to be sold through Parent/Teacher Associations, school fairs, special school events, etc.
