Review: This book is not a literary masterpiece - it is not meant to be. It is simply the tragic story of one woman as told by her mother. And it is simply the most detailed and nuanced story I have read of a postpartum psychosis suicide. Although postpartum psychosis is not a new condition, there are few books that even mention it and even fewer who give the reader any real "picture" of this disorder. Therefore "Beth" is a real groudbreaker. Also, the chapter "So what did I learn" and the list of resources are valuable contributions. Thank you Shirley for having the strength to write and publish this book.
