Summary: Babies and children want to be understood
Review: Many refer to this parenting book as a "Training guide" or "Owners Manuel" for parents. This fully illustrated easy to read and simple to understand book is being applauded by Social Workers, Parenting Educators and the parents themselves. This book shows how Babies and young children want to be understood. This unique book is written as if by the "little Ones" themselves. They walk Mom & Dad through everyday living and express their needs and wishes with a common sense and simple approach. Who can tell us better than the babies themselves! One statement from the book: "DEAR MOMMY AND DADDY, I NEED YOU TO UNDERSTAND THAT IF YOU'RE UPSET WITH EACH OTHER, IT'S NOT FAIR TO IGNORE ME OR TAKE IT OUT ON ME! [Babies can feel tension, hostile looks and anger. Mature parents will resolve conflicts quickly and still be loving toward the child. PLEASE act like a mature parent]. *REMEMBER, I feel what you feel. Your anger toward one another is hard on me."... This book has been written for all parents. If your little ones could talk from their hearts, they would ask you to love and care for them. Your job is to try to make the next generation better, and do your best. "Thank you for loving your children!"

Summary: Good common sense!
Review: Since I teach parenting classes, I have been looking (for years) for common sense parenting books. Thank goodness I ran across this one! My teaching efforts are simplified, the parents are not struggling to understand, the awareness and progress with the younger teen Moms is amazing! I recommend it to parents, grandmothers, teachers, day care workers and anyone who cares about children.

Summary: This is a great books to make you understand children.
Review: This book is a great parenting book. It has made me think a lot about my children's needs. It is easy to understand and really makes you think about your child's feelings. It really made me think of how my actions are affecting my children even though they cannot communicate. It makes me want to be a better parent. I wish I had this book when my oldest was a baby. Children are wonderful and we need to help keep them that way.

Summary: Fantastic book! Perfect for any parent!
Review: This book uses simple langauge-written from a child's perspective-which makes it so any parent can use the information. The guidelines for raising children are so clearcut and fun! I have read many parenting books. This one does not have a lot of "filler" information. It cuts right to the point in a fun and friendly way. A MUST for anyone who is raising children!

Summary: This Grandmother wishes she had this book 40 years ago!
Review: Where was DEAR MOMMY DEAR DADDY when I was rearing my four children years ago?! No one talked about what they couldn't do back then. You had to act like you knew about parenting, and then cried yourself to sleep. I see a new problem today. Most young parents are open to talking about their children, but they don't want anyone giving them advice (as if their babies are property they own "No one is going to tell me how to raise my kids!" OR "It's no ones business how I raise my kid."). "YES IT IS!" It is everyone's business! It took me half my life to figure out parenting but no one wants to listen. This wonderful parenting book does it! It gives the many "basics" all little children need in order to feel safe and loved. I wish I could donate this book to every new Mom in America! All of my family and friends have copies, and I hope others will do the same for their loved ones.

Summary: Young Parents are Getting it!
Review: Working with young (inexperienced) parents, especially single teen Moms, has its challenges. Some of my parents are court ordered, so they come to my parenting classes because they have to. Many of them don't like to read, don't want to be told what to do ("This is my baby, I can do whatever I want.") and think they aleady know what to do. When I discovered this book, I felt as if I received "manna from heaven"! Not only do my young parents like reading the common-sense simple messages, but they are eager to discuss their personal concerns as we read through the book together. This is amazing! No more pulling teeth - no more eyes rolling - no more stretching and yawning. They get it! They realize parenting is more than just thinking your baby is cute. Parenting is hard work with huge payoffs. They view their baby as a tiny person (not a toy) who has special needs and wants. They are also realizing how important it is to keep your home in order and have good foods available in the home. This book goes through it all. It is great. I would recommend it to all those who teach parenting classes and all you parents who need some encouragement.
