Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: The adventure to end all adventures! Review: I read this book in record time, it was that compelling. The Cohens undertook their marathon journey without knowing exactly what would be in store for them from day to day. They should be held in high esteem for even attempting it with three young children! The trip didn't always go smoothly, but that made the book even harder to put down. I'd really recommend reading it, especially if you think that traveling with children is a chore - you'll appreciate David & Devi's achievements all the more! It's written very well and the author holds the reader's attention with his detailed accounts of the places they visited. I, for one, am looking forward to his next trip - if there is to be one!!

It is a marvelous book, an easy read with lots of travel tips, but great insights into the life of a family. Get it now.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Great vacation book Review: I read One Year Off in two sittings on vacation in Hawaii, and I'm not a very patient reader. Then I gave the book to my wife and two daughters (ages 11 and 21) and they enjoyed it too. Highly recommended- even if you're not planning to make a round-the-world trip.
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: This book is boring. Review: I generally like travel books. But this one is about this guys family and how great they are. The wife is a biathalon athlete or triathalon. Anyway, it's all about rich California people with time and money to kill. It's very 80's.
Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: This book is like a plane full of kids. Review: My kids are grown so this book was a real turnoff. It's like being forced to listen to a guy on a cell phone tell cute stories about his kids while you just want to read your paper in peace. Yes, the kids are adorable which is why Cohen's relatives must have loved these e-mails. I didn't though. I don't know these people and they sure seem shallow and materialistic through and through.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: One Year Off is skillfully written and thought provoking Review: As David Cohen describes how this amazing trip unfolds, you will feel as if you are along for the ride. It is much more than a travel adventure, however. It is a beautiful story of a midlife passage and the lessons that can be learned by taking risks with your lifestyle.Although you'll love to read it yourself, this is a great book to read aloud to children.
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: An unusual travel book. Review: Cohen is a good writer but this is pretty thin gruel. His picture books, the "Day in the Life" series, had more depth and were more empathetic to non-Americans and non-westerners. But this is good too.
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: A cute book. Review: I liked this book. It's a Readers Digest kind of trip aroundthe world. Amusing and cute.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: I read it twice Review: One year off is a wonderful, easy read. I laughed out loud- a lot, and I even shed a few tears. This book isn't just a travel book, it is an engaging tale of a family that appeals to all ages. I related to it as a grandma of 5. David Elliot Cohen is a funny, realisitc, sensitive writer.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Humorous, entertaining and educational - a good read. Review: Having read a few chapters from this delightful " travel book with a difference", I cannot wait to read the whole family saga! Aside from Cohen's lovely sense of humour, his observations and insights of some of the countries I know well, are 'spot on'.
