The author's humor relieves the jitters about child care for both new parents and new grandparents.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Amazingingly easy to read but so Lifechanging Review: Parenting Power is so simple to read - it's truly a delight! The information is presented in 3 parts: parenting a Baby, a Toddler, a preschool-age child.
This book gave me so much nutshell info and I feel more confident about how to respond to my kid and how to be a good dad. There are no classes somebody can take to prepare them for the first years of being a parent. This book covers so much of those issues without going into major detail. I don't have time to read a thick chapter book and that's what we found appealing about this one.
I now recommend this book to my friends who are having babies so they can get started on the right foot.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Immediately thought of friends who would love this book! Review: Practical, helpful, a great resource! This describes Brenda's book which provides information and tips to help a parent during the first five years, rather than simply discussing problems or challenges. This is a must read for new parents, grandparents, and child care workers. I give this book a definite thumbs up!

I highly recommend it.""Wonderful reading for new parents as well as experienced caregivers! Brenda's relaxed and insightful approach offers comfort and reassurance to parents that they and their children are normal." Cindy Wolf, author and mother "It is a confidence booster for new parents and a resource that will be dog-eared and frayed by the time the once-tiny, wrinkled charge steps on the bus as a confident kindergartner." Suzanne Eller, author and freelance writer
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Perfect for Parents Review: So easy to read and understand! Not like some of the "highbrow" junk that is our there for parents.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Thumbs up from Dad and Mom Review: Solid concepts of a pro with good "rubber meets the road" advice of a veteran parent. Accessible, insightful, seasoned, potent. Enjoyed by both parents in this house.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Permission to act, acknowledgement of feelings Review: This book is a great resource for not only first time parents but for myself, a parent of multiple children. I'm on my 3rd and it has already helped. As a matter of fact, last night, I suggested that my spouse read a couple of the chapters. Brenda has shown it is natural to have feelings when you are a parent but it is our decision to act that produces good and bad results. Powerful Parenting!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: A necessity for anyone working with young children Review: This book is so full of sound and practical advice that it should be used by every parent and every person giving care to children from birth to age five. It contains an abundance of reassurance and encouragement for parents as to what is normal and what works in dealing with specific issues as they come up. The Resource Index is perfect for helping the reader to dig deeper on certain relevant topics. The Gift-Giving Key and the Child Development Guide are the icing on the cake and extremely valuable to anyone dealing with young children. I wish that I had had this book around when my children were little.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Best little Cliff Notes on parenting yet! Review: What to do about separation anxiety, how to find quality childcare, effective discipline using positive talk or consequences, potty training, thumb-sucking, raising responsible kids, getting them ready for Kindergarten...it's all in here! This is the best Cliff Notes on how to raise a child in the first five years that I've ever found! Even in the back of the book there's tips for giving the right age appropriate gift, and a child development key so you know if yours is acting normal and resources for more indepth reading. I especially found the suggested websites helpful. How many books do you find that give more information about other websites and resources to continue your learning? Parenting POwer has it all. I'm so glad I found this treasure and plan to reread it several more times in the coming years.
