Rating: Summary: A monumental waste of time Review: This book features(?) cliched characters, implausible plot twists, and a highly unflattering, though probably unintentional, view of middle class African American life. Is there a cliche that wasn't explored here, a brand name that wasn't dropped? The only thing missing was the evil overseer and the trashy white woman. I felt that I was reading a book written by a high school dropout. It's my worst nightmare; someone with enough ability to write a book with no talent. I can't believe I read the whole thing, but it was kind of like watching a car accident: I had to see the whole thing through.
Rating: Summary: FLAT CHARACTERS, FLAT PLOT, FLAT ENDING Review: I found this book to be a total waste of time. The characters were undeveloped and suffering from delusions of grandeur. They author thinks having a jeep cherokee and a maxima equal wealth and demonstrate success in the black community? Give me a break, the characters were living paycheck to paycheck. I thought this book was a total waste of time and money, I wish I could get a refund.
Rating: Summary: This book was great. Review: I was able to relate to this book from beginning to end. Once I picked it up, I could not put it down until I finished the book. I just started back reading and this was my first book. And I am glad it was, because I am off to a good start. I have already recommended this book to 6 friends and they all loved it. Good job Kimberla
Rating: Summary: GREATEST BOOK OF ALL TIME!!! Review: This is the best book that I have read in my liftime. It was so good that I gave it to my four sisters and my mom, and everyone read it in one day. My family has passed this book on to several friends and so on, and so on. Thank you for a very witty and fast reading book. Please hurry up and write your next novel.
Rating: Summary: EXCELLENT Review: I READ THIS BOOK WHIILE I WAS HOME SICK FROM WORK ON EASTER VACATION. MY HUSBAND WAS ON VACATION BECAUSE THE KIDS WERE OUT OF SCHOOL THAT WEEK. THE ONLY TIME I WOLUD PUT THE BOOK DOWN WAS TO TAKE MY MEDICINE, MY HUSBAND WOULD COME IN THE ROOM AND SAY I THOUGHT YOU WERE SICK, I SAID THIS IS THE ONLY THING I CAN DO IS READ THIS BOOK. IT WAS GREAT I'LL BE WAITING FOR YOUR NEXT ONE.
Rating: Summary: Started off with potential, but slowly died out. Review: With the number of misspelled words towards the end of the book, even the proofreaders must have gotten tired of reading. There seemed to be other storylines that Ms. Roby could have addressed in the book but didn't. Her writing style is characteristic of many fictional books about relationships, i.e., a majority of the book is about the problems, then we get to a happy, but abrupt ending. I must give credit to one part of the book... it allowed the reader to use his/her imagination
Rating: Summary: This is a Winner Review: This book was so good that I just couldn't put it down. That right there says that this book is worth your time. I felt what the characters were experiencing as if it was happening to me--and I've never been married. I'll be waiting for a sequel to this novel.
Rating: Summary: Excellent! Review: A real page turner. You reallly get into these two African American ladies struggles as they are faced with the fact their marriages are not as perfect as they thought -- girlfriends are forced to do a reality check, but have their friendships to see them through it all. Once you start this book it will be hard to put down. Apparently this is Kimberla's first novel -- I am eagerly awaiting the next. You go girl!!!
Rating: Summary: It's Da Bomb Review: This is a terrific story. One you will not want to miss. It's a MRS( Must Read Story ) to put on your MRL( Must Read List ). Once you start reading you can't stop!!!! You will want to keep going, and going until you finish.
Rating: Summary: Novel Synopsis: Review: With settings in Chicago and Atlanta, Behind Closed Doors
uncovers the reality of two seemingly perfect marriages
and paints a vivid picture of two African-American women
struggling side by side to place their lives back into
perspective. This true-to-life contemporary novel is a Blackboard African-American Bestseller.
