Summary: A Child called It
Review: This book has got to be the most horrifing books I have ever read! The thought of harming and torturing a child like Dave's mother did, made me sick to my stomach! We all could say, how come he did'nt just leave? For Dave to hang in there and still feel for this woman, is incredible on its own. Hats off to Dave for not only overcoming this abuse, but for the love and devotion he has for others who have or are being abused. The most encouraging people are those who have been in the shoes of those they are helping. I have read both "The lost boy" and "A man named Dave" also, and I just hope Dave keeps up with all the help hes given to others. People like Dave can and will make a difference in others lives. Keep writing Dave I want to read more!

Summary: The most powerful book that I have ever read! Made me cry!
Review: Working in a position where I deal with children that have been abused, this book opens your eyes to what is out there. This is the first book that made me so emotional that I threw the book against the wall. It's hard to believe that a mother could be so evil to her child. The things that David Pelzer goes through makes mental health professionals wonder more about the mind and the state of being that one goes through when put in the tortureous situations that David was put through. If you like to analyize mental states that people find themselves in this is the book. It is not for the weak of heart. Your pulse will race and a tear or two will be shed.

Summary: Extraordinary book to read...One of the best I've EVER read.
Review: From the very beginning to the end of this chapter in Dave's life you immediately begin to feel for him as he struggles to make any sense of what is happening to him. I do not read many books but I have to say once I started this I could not put it down and read it in a two-hour time frame, I stumbled upon this book while in a book store and didn't leave the store until I was finished with the book. Throughout the book the feelings of his helplessness and hopelessness as well as loneliness comes through the paper and slaps the reader right in the face. Many times as I was reading this book I asked myself this question, "How did he keep from completely breaking down?" I think Dave is an excellent example of the "Human Spirit" and deserves every great and good thing that happens to him in the future. After reading this book I found out there are two more books in this series. One is, "The Lost Boy" and the other is, "The Man Named Dave". I have started reading "The Lost Boy" and have already bought the last book. I strongly encourage anyone to read this book as well as the whole series and when you think you have it tough just remember Dave Pelzer, what he went through, and what he did to overcome it and how he dealt with the anger that goes along with the acts that took place on him.

Summary: This is the definition of will power and survival!
Review: David Peltzer, at a very young age, came to face death and fear and rose above them. He was truely a remarkable young boy! It is a reminder of what children are truely capeable of. Time and time again, David refuses to let the pain and anguish his family inflicts upon him to squash his will to live. I am disgusted and confused at how a mother (and family) could be so evil! This woman is very sick. The more frightening thought is there are others out there like her... My heart goes out to these children. Mr. Peltzer, yours is a remarkable survival story!

Summary: One book that SHOULD help you to see abuse first hand!!!
Review: A great book! I felt so sorry for David. I have a 22 month old at home and after reading "A Child Called It" I will more and more let my daughter know how much she is Loved!! I am now reading "The Lost Boy". At times I wanted to stop reading because I just could NOT believe a mother could be that cruel to her own son. Another reason I wanted to put down the book was that I dislike abuse and that was more than I wanted to hear about. "Great job Dave" The Adams Family will continue to Pray for you!!!

Summary: Dave is indeed a survivor!
Review: So many children encounter abuses such as Mr. Pelzer's. I read his first two books in less than one day. I work in foster care services and am a strong advocate for children. People can help children in need of our care; however, you must report abuse. Be the abuse emotional or physical, it all affects our children. Children who encounter these abuses may indeed be scarred for life. My thanks to Dave for being so brave in telling his story. By seminars, Dave also tells his story in person. Most abused children do not get a chance to tell their story. I certainly hope that it helps to open up our eyes and watch out for our children.
