Summary: waste of time and money
Review: For some reason, men are supposed to come out of the womb knowing every single thing about how their penises function, and this couldn't be further from the truth! Most young men haven't a clue about any STD that isn't AIDS, and less than nothing about testicular cancer(I almost lost one friend to this very ignorance!).

I went looking for an instructional manual for another friend of mine who really was....well, quite naive is a polite way to put it, and this was the best I could do. What men really, really need is a male version of Our Bodies, Ourselves, and having perused close to a hundred books, this is as good at is gets. I reccommend this book as a primer for teenagers and young men, especially in regards to disease and STD's...but no more.

Another problem is the expense; while it's the best that can be had, it really costs too much for such a thin book. I think the publisher or author may be capitalizing on the lack of other books in this area.

Summary: Another example of...
Review: Sure, the book is well written. But it is a book about penises, written by a women. Pardon me for being a man, but don't you think her take on the subject might be from a disadvantageous perspective. Obviously, the mindset of the author must be considered when judging the external validity of a work. If you were to buy a book about flying, would you be more inclined to buy one written by a fish or one written by a bird? Another example of the Emasculation Project!! I do not want a women to explain my penis to me. What if she dislikes men? This may be a disguised attempt to control our most valuable tool.

Summary: okay...but not great
Review: there are many interesting tid-bits in this slim volume, unfortunately, the author, in a laudable attempt to provide comical/witty commentary, demonstrates a distinct in-ability to do so. in other words, she tries wa-a-ay too hard to be funny...and, she is not. still, if the reader is willing to wade through the unnecessary/uninspired verbage, some good information can be gleaned.

i should also say that ms. gore deserves credit for tackling such an...unusual subject, no doubt she raised a number of eyebrows when telling folks about the book...and i'm guessing there may have been some mild confusion over it's claim to be "an owner's manual"? seems a little, presumptious, margaret, unless there's something you're not telling us... : )

Summary: The Penis Unvarnished
Review: We American guys think we know everything about penises. But the truth is we know about our own--not the penises of our friends or men of other races and cultures. This book shows how circumcision can negate sensation. While USA guys love to parade our penises on nude beached in Europe oh so proud of the so-called superior beauty of a circumcised penis WHEREAS our European friends with their so-called UGLY uncut penises are having the last laugh as they get more of a thrill from their "tool" then we do with ours. The book shows us that the old rant about size NOT mattering is the bunk every guy has always known. Size matters to heterosexual women not to gay men as much. Read this to learn that a penis needs maintenance like an old wooden tennis racquet and needs to "breath" like fine wine.

Summary: waste of time and money
Review: Well, as the book is too thin, it doesn't say anything. You can have all the info that is there by just asking a common person and surfing the internet. Other books are better, if you're a beginner this is OK. But if you need deeper answer or understanditng, this is a waste.
