Rating: Summary: I'm A Stubborn Man & I Loved It Review: Christmas 1997. My wife received "Chicken Soup..Soul" from my mother for a gift. Shelly (my Wife) is not much of a reader, so I picked it up and browsed through it. I had a house full of family and friends and here I am, somebody who has a stubborn heart and never gets choked-up, bawling like a baby while finishing up the stories. Before long, all of my guests were around me listening to me read from the pages, all sobbing. It's bad enough that the stories have us feeling so good (or sad) half way through them, but we have to get hit with the last line in the story which usually feels like a kick in the throat. Thank you for making my heart sing again. Sincerely, Rob Surber
Rating: Summary: Balm for burned-out helping professionals Review: Cynicism is an occupational hazard of those in helping professions. We develop it as a defense against getting too emotionally involved with the people we serve. This book has been around for a few years now. I remember seeing it when it first came out and thinking, "yeah, yeah, sounds like yet another mass-produced, convoluted self-help title." One of our dearest friends (a man who'd been in our wedding party) was telling me about it while we were shopping during one of their visits to our city. He said the stories were both touching and encouraging. I decided buy it. WELL. . .by the end of the weekend, I had devoured this book, laughed and cried and felt renewed. I especially enjoyed the stories submitted by teachers and parents who'd found that simple ideas and actions made a profound impact on the lives of the children in their lives. When I walked into the office on Monday morning, I was recharged. How long will it last? I don't know. But this is the best I've felt in months. And it was cheaper than an hour of psychotherapy, a bottle of booze, or a box of Godiva chocolates. Highly recommended. Borrow it first if you don't believe me. . .then buy it for your nightstand. Enjoy. . .
Rating: Summary: This book is heart warming, a "must read"!! Review: Heart warming and touching. After I finished reading this book, I passed it to a friend as a gift and she loves it. A book this good should be passed around. Spread around the wonderful messages from this book to this soon to be "freezing" world.
Rating: Summary: Chicken Soup for the Soul is as heartwarming as said to be Review: I am an 18 year old female who has gone through many losses, such as the loss of my father and I found this book (as well as all the other Soup for the Soul books) to be a help in more than one way. I was honestly astounded at how much of a difference it made by reading a few stories....It really makes you think twice about not only who you are........but who you want to be...........
Rating: Summary: Excellent Adventure Review: I bought this book as a gift but became so engrossed I had to buy another for the gift. Recommended for anyone who could use a pick me up in spirit. I reread often and always find enjoyment! I wish I had not read it yet so I could start over
Rating: Summary: Chicken Soup for The Soul Review: I read this book in one sitting. I laughed and cried and now I'm making out my list of all the things I want to accomplish. Beyond heart-warming, I found this book to be inspirational and just what I needed for the crossroads ahead in my life. You need this book!

Rating: Summary: contrived, melodramatic drivel!!! Review: I received this book as a gift and had to throw it across the room in disgust after about twenty pages. This is an extremely corny and phony book which pulls at predictable heart strings. There is absolutely nothing original or truely heart felt in the book. Anyone desiring this kind of mushy theatrics would be better served watching a soap opera.
Rating: Summary: Great Book Review: I thought the book was extremely good! Many of the stories touched my heart in a way I never thought possible. I have also bought the book Chicken Soup for the Teenage soul for my thirteen year old daughter. Me and my daughter read a story almost every night and we think of how this story could make us better people. Thankyou for writing all your books.
Rating: Summary: Chicken Soup for the Soul Review: I was given this book by a co-worker for a Christmas gift and having never heard of this title before, reluctantly began reading it in my spare time. Once I picked this book up I literally could not put it down. The stories are reader friendly and heartwarming. I found myself emotionally moved and uplifted with inspiration and a new sense of purpose. I STRONGLY recommend this book - it really is a shot of penicillin (chicken soup) for the soul!
