Summary: A solid guide to instilling a harmonious environment
Review: Presenting a model that has been successfully used in hundreds of high school classrooms, The Well-Managed Classroom: Promoting Students Through Social Skill Instruction is the collaborative effort of Theresa Connolly, Tom Dowd, Andrea Criste, Cathy Nelson, and Lisa Tobias. The Well-Managed Classroom covers student rights; the importance of building and maintaining relationships; as well as principles of behavior; effectively using praise; preventive teaching, and much, much more. A solid guide to instilling a harmonious environment that would best promote traditional learning, The Well-Managed Classroom is a welcome and commended addition to Educational Studies reference collections and classroom instruction reading lists.

Summary: Title can be deceiving
Review: To be 100% honest, as of this writing I have not finished this book, but I was put off by the fact that this book is actually based on "The Boys Town" methods. I am sure some advice will be helpful, but I think they need to state that somewhere. I know I was shocked when I opened my package! Also so far they are always referring to Boys Town and not how to use this practically in our classrooms.
