Summary: Reads like an Instruction Manual
Review: and therefore, my husband loved it! I would never have gotten him to read one of my "baby books" since they reiterate a point several times, but he realy enjoyed this! It's funny, to the point, interesting, and helpful. The author goes over the basics of pregnancy, hospitals, and baby care from an involved dad's perspective. I highly reccommend it!

Summary: Should be titled "Advice for future fathers"
Review: Being a new dad, I was looking for a book which would give me tips with my newborn son. Based upon the reviews, "Daddy Smarts" sounded like the perfect book. Unfortunately I was extremely disappointed that the vast majority of the book was dedicated to pre-birth topics such as "naming your baby", "getting ready for labor day", "How is my baby developing in the womb".

There are 29 chapters in the book and 24 of them were dedicated to before the baby was born. Ch. 25 is titled "Going Home (from the hospital)". I was expecting a little more of this book to be dedicated to advice for fathers for their first year.

Summary: What to Expect for Dads
Review: I read this book and gave it to my husband when we found out we were expecting. It's funny, has loads of information and stuff that your friends and family just won't tell you about pregnancy and babies. I highly recommend it.

Summary: New Dads Take Note!
Review: Much like the author, I spent a lot of time looking for books about pregnancy and found nothing that was geared towards the guy. All the books I could find were either geared towards the mother, so full of tongue and cheek banter that you couldn't get any real information from them, or were the accounts of celebs and what they went through as fathers. It was tough finding a daddy book that talked about pregnancy to the DAD.

Daddy Smarts, on the other hand, is a great source of information for first time expectant fathers. The book is organized in chronological order, and is divided into six sections: 1. Life Before Conception; 2. What Am I Going Through; 3. What Are My Wife and Baby Going Through; 4. The Great Debates (this includes topics like choosing a name, and raising your child); 5. Labor Day; 6. Life After Baby. Each section is filled with candid information that doesn't pull any punches. It's also sprinkled with intelligent, sometimes biting, humor that makes it an easy read. Moreover, each chapter ends with a Daddy Smarts Top Tips section that summerizes the chapter.

I enjoyed this book a lot. It also gave me the information I was craving. My wife also read it and said that much of the writer's explainations of what a pregnant woman goes through are dead on and not sugar coated! If you're a rookie dad that wants the straight dope on pregnancy and fatherhood, this is a great >first< book. I can't recommend it enough!!!

Summary: Daddy knows best
Review: My father-in-law gave me this book after my wife and I told him that we were expecting. It was a quick read and served as a great reference book at various times during my wife's pregnancy. Truly a relief to read advice on the trial and tribulations of pregnancy and birth from another dad's perspective. Highly recommended!

Summary: The most useful book for new dads
Review: Of the four books I bought, this was the most informative for new dads.
