Rating: Summary: It's time for a revision! Review: This book has some good information, but much of it is now outdated, and no longer accurate. I would hope that there is going to be a reprint soon. This book is no longer the help that it was five years ago. THere
Rating: Summary: Awesome! Review: This book is a wonderful, comprehensive source of information for many of the complications of pregnancy. Each complication is explained well. I ordered this book and I also ordered the book "Days in Waiting...A Guide to Survive Pregnancy Bedrest." This, too, is a great book, and the two books are very complimentary. These two books are essential for understanding complicated pregnancies, and coping with them, especially if you're on bedrest."
Rating: Summary: An absolute MUST if you have a complication during pregnancy Review: This book was a life saver for me and my husband. The father's chapter is a MUST read (I left it open to that chapter in the 'reading room' to get my husband to read it). You simply won't find a better book for complicated pregnancies!
Rating: Summary: Truly Wonderful!!! Review: This book was really helpful for me during my triplet pregnancy! I passed it along to a friend who had a high risk pregnancy and have recommended it to many. It answers so many things that regular pregnancy books don't and helps you not feel quite as alone!
Rating: Summary: This is the book I wish I'd had to read when I was pregnant. Review: You might call "Honey, would you get me a book about..." one of the major themes of my pregnancy. In all, I had ten major complications (not including an emergency c-section). I was on bedrest for thirty of my thirty-three and a half weeks of pregnancy, and the last five and half of those I spent in the hospital.
Each time my doctors gave me a new diagnosis, I'd ask my husband, "Honey, could you get me a book...". and each time, he could find nothing more than a paragraph to a couple of pages in a "well pregnancy" book. There were no books available for women like me, women who wanted comprehensive, understandable information about complications like gestational diabetes, placenta previa, and intrauterine growth retardation (to name just three of my own).
Later, after I recovered and brought my healthy baby home, I decided to write the book I wished I'd had to read while I was pregnant. A book with full information about each complication, in lay language, explaining every medical term. A book that emphasizes the positive without skipping over the negative, written from the woman's perspective, with information on how to cope. And, finally, a book that would counter fear and isolation, by giving the reader a true sense of what to expect.
This is that book. My goal was to give you the tools to understand what's happening to you and your baby, so that you can take an active role in your care and make informed choices.
