Summary: Helpful book for moms of teens
Review: A good jumping off point for moms searching for a way to relate to their daughters. No earth shattering information but it is concrete with useful suggestions. Would recommend it to someone looking for much needed advice. The most helpful aspect of the book is it's description of adolescence as a developmental stage. It normalizes what many go through as their daughters begin to separate from the family in a sometimes overwhelming way.

Summary: I Highly Suggest This Book For Dads of Adolescent Girls Too
Review: I bought this book several years ago when my daughter was 12 and I've read and reread it many times since. It's one of the few books on teenage girls I have read that is written to teach both parent/adult and child about the stress and strain of adolescence. The information in the book is applicable to "fathers" as well. Now that my daughter is seventeen, I'm convinced that she would behave in exactly the same manner if she had been raised by her father alone. With this in mind, I encourage Dads to read this book, too.

Summary: This book helped me tremendously to understand my 12 yr girl
Review: I didn't want this book to end. It was so insight ful, helped me to think before I speak to my 12 yr old girl. I'm trying to apply the concept of no negative feed back, even in the face of the "7th grade uglies". I wish she had written more on this subject. I'm about to read "Strong Mothers, Strong Sons" for my 18 and 12 year old sons.

Summary: If you're worried about your daughter's teen years, read on!
Review: Many mothers have told me that they keep Don't Stop Loving Me next to their beds for easy reference! If you are discouraged about female adolescents after reading Reviving Ophelia, this is the book for you. After interviewing many girls and mothers, the clear message I heard was that each thought the other did not love them. Daughters thought their mothers didn't love them because their moms always seem to be criticizing and moms thought their daughters didn't love them because their daughters kept telling them they should have new hairstyles, new clothes, etc. and sometimes just said, "I hate you." Don't Stop Loving Me will help you maintain your own self-confidence while you support your daughter's development and keep her love during the turbulent adolescent years. My experience as a psychologist and as a mother of six, now young adult, children helps me to understand the sensitive issues that arise between mothers and daughters. At the end of each chapter are "Memos for Moms" that cover the key points in each chapter. You will find most of the issues that arise between you and your daughter discussed throughout the book. I hope you find Don't Stop Loving Me helpful to you and your family
