Review: This is a brilliant and humanistically oriented analysis of a highly controversial topic. Dr. Breggin clearly documents his conclusions. I highly recommend it to parents, educators and health professionals. Alternatives are offered to the widepread practice of prescribing addictive stimulants to children who have a hypothesized cindition with no known biological markers.

Review: Very informative book and a must read for any parent with a struggling child. The facts are clearly sourced in this book. What I see from most negative reviews is emotion based. Quackwatch has been shown as biased opinion and not scienctific by a California court. As far as 14 years in the Ritalin field, hey Ritalin makes your kid a zombie ( read the book), OF COURSE IT WORKS YOUR CHILD IS NOW ZOMBIE! SEARCH YAHOO NEWS AND SEE THE LASTEST DANGERS ABOUT THIS DRUG!!! Also Ritalin is classified in the same category for addiction as Cocaine by the DEA. Think about it! I've had one step child on Ritalin, now he's off of it and I don't see any behavior that isn't "normal". What he really needed was enforced rules. No matter how hard it hurts you as a parent, keep up the good work.

Review: We need to start somewhere to stop drugging our children and this book is an excellent start, coming from a practicing credentialed physician. Seems people no longer have trust in their own ability to do what is right but go blindly on the word of their physican's advise. We need someone out there to tell the public what drugging our children is all about besides increasing performance.

Summary: Finally!
Review: Yes, finally someone has come out and addressed this problem. The problem really isn't children, it's the adults who want children to mind and behave. What sort of nation are we who tell children to "Just Say No" and then give them ritalin and other drugs -- at 2 and 3! If my toddler acted like a vegtable that's supposed to make me happy! Some war on drugs this nation is fighting! And then we wonder why kids go on to herion and cocaine? The schools are to blame too because the system is so rigid and doesn't allow for children to be children but little automated robots who are rewarded for sitting quitely and raising their hands. Children need more physical stimulation which involves a learning process. This sitting still for 6 hours a day is not natural but then again this nation only promotes those who follow the rules and do as their told. Independence is only a word banded about of the 4th of July. Ritalin is and was always bad for children and now we as nation are dealing with adults addicted to drugs who get thrown in jail for doing what was done to them in their youth. I say put the doctors, parents and teachers in jail who made these kids that way. Thank you very much--that will be all.
