Summary: A True Goldmine!
Review: Ahhh! A truly PRACTICAL hands-on book for raising well-mannered, godly, enjoyable children! The perfect help for today's frustrated, sassed,over-run parents. This book will teach you how to have first-time cheerful obedience, how to avoid a child-run home, how to get your children to eat what you serve with a grateful heart. It will teach you how to develop maturity and responsibililty in your child, and how to skip teen rebellion altogether.
We have ten kids. Obviously, parenting is a rather preoccupying way of life for us. We have devoured quite a few books on the subject. This book stands out as the jewel among jewels, and is Bible-based.
We ordered a case to give away. If you only read one book about child training, make this the one.

Review: Child training tips: what I wish my parents knew when I was young

Now I may be one of the youngest readers of this book, I am 14 and this together with TO TRAIN UP A CHILD and NO GREATER JOY V. 1,2 & 3 by Michael Pearl totally transformed my life!
I am not a zombie-like being inside a human shell, I feel now more alive than ever before thanks to Mr. Bradley! In fact, I can go so far as to say, I am a human in a zombie-like shell!
This is not an abuse handbook, but one that can and will give you tips on how to train your young ones so they don't have to go through even one year of "teen-rebellion" (I did you know at 13)
PRAISE THE LORD, ANOTHER BIBLICALY BASED MAN OF GOD WHO CARES FOR OTHERS!
This book is a great investment many times worth its price! It's a great book,
You are now three steps away from having a transformed life
1) Get it
2) Read it
3) Implement it

Summary: The best child-rearing advice I've seen yet
Review: If you're looking for a Bible-based book on raising your children, this is it! Reb Bradley gives scripture references through out the book to support his views and methods. He also tells the reader when a particular point is soley his view based on his observations and experience.
One of the best things about this book is the way the author steps on your toes. He gives specific examples of things we (parents)do to encourage our children to misbehave, as well as examples of things that we may not recognize as misbehavior.
If you think you're doing a good job of raising your kids, read this book. I keep one to refer to now and then, but I keep giving it away to people who are impressed with my kids behavior! I'm ordering five more!

Summary: this book is such a blessing!!
Review: My husband and I received this book from his parents for Christmas. My husband is one of 9 children and his Mom and sisters heard Mr Bradley speak at a conference and picked the book up there. It is just wonderful! My husband is a no fluff, no frills kind of guy and he had a hard time putting this book down! We have been following Mr Bradley's advice for a little over a week now and the change in our girls ( 3 and 2) is remarkable! They are more obedient and happy and such a joy to be with. Being consistent with them is making a world of difference for them and us. They know exactly where the line is and we don't become frusterated after telling them something for the third or fourth time. This book has been great for me also because it helped me to see my faults as a parent and now i have my own list of rules. There is a great section about common mistakes that parents make called "methods of incorrect discipline" where he lists several common mistakes (many of which we found ourselves doing), gives examples of the mistakes, and then shows you why they are mistakes and how they are harmful in the long run. The chapter on "nurturing with disipline" is excellent and the chapter on "exasperating your child" is sure to keep you on your toes! I wish i could buy a copy for every parent i know!

Summary: I wish I had this book years ago!
Review: This book will help you identify and correct areas of parental weakness in child rearing. If you want to train up your children in the way they should go, I highly recommend this book. Be warned: it will cause you to examining your own heart and motivations, especially if your children are older and you've made mistakes.

Summary: Better Books Out There
Review: Unfortunately, this book reacts to child-centered parenting and swings entirely to the opposite extreme. It is so focused on parental control, and managing the external behavior of children, that it creates an family environment of legalistic sternness and lack of grace. Example: Reb teaches that a child should never refuse an action initiated by the parent, such as being picked up or put in their parent's lap. Children who are constantly controlled this way find it difficult to develop self control, and worse, grow up to be controlling people themselves. As a dad, and a Children's Pastor at a non-denominational Bible church, I have read many solid parenting books. This, unfortunately, is the worst I have read. Two books that are much more effective and provide a good balance for each other are Shepherding a Child's Heart (similar perspective as Reb's, but more grace & heart oriented) by Ted Tripp, and Parenting with Love and Logic (a different approach, but especially effective for school age and adolescent children) by Cline and Fay.
