Rating: Summary: Easy to understand health guide for you and yours Review: Dr. Wilson is an internist who took time to write this book for women who want to maintain their husband's (and their own!) health in a simple, understandable way.
Topics include diabetes type II, prostate health, cholesterol and cholesterol-lowering drugs, heart conditions and more. The doctor covers supplements like fish oil--so this is not a book that only covers ethical drug treatment. Bravo. The book definitely goes into detail that you might or might not get from your family phsyician, and it does it in the most accessible, easy-to-grasp way.
Dr. Wilson felt so strongly that if women would have a readable guide for health, they could influence the health of their partner in a significant way. I agree. I can't see who wouldn't benefit from having this valuable book to read and refer to.
Rating: Summary: The Answers I Needed to My Health Worries Review: I am 53 and read Your Husband's Health out of curiosity about my own health. I seldom go to the doctor so most of this was new and interesting information. I particularly liked the section entitled Regrets and Longings. I wish my wife had read that ten years ago. The book is well written, concise and kept my attention. There are some wonderful stories and humor interspersed with the medical information. I highly reccomend this to midlife men and their wives as a good place to start understanding their own health and preserving that health for later in life.

Rating: Summary: Consise Knowledge Review: I like Your Huband's Health tremendously. I do worry about my husband and I don't worry about my children and I would do if he were to get seriously ill at this critical time in our lives. After readig the first section, Regrets and Longing, I undrstood better why he is moody some of the time and what I can do to help turn it around. I am particularly thankful for the information on hypertension. My husband has had hypertension for ten years and doesn't always take his medicine because he doesn't understand why he should. I appreciaated the chapter on weight because he has put on 25 pounds and I know how to help hime take it off. This book was concise and I read it in one afternoon. It was written with stories so even though it was medical knowledge, I was able to follow it easily. At last someone has written about something that all midlife wives (and their husbands) need to know to keep their health and stop worrying. I have recommended this book to all my friends.
Rating: Summary: Excellent book! Review: I picked up Your Husband's Health because the cover grabbed me. The photograph on the front is so funny. The overarching title, Dispatches from the Frontlines of Medicine, made me think of a war weary doctor, writing under deadline, with hot news. I have been married a long time and at age 50-something, I can't take my husband's health for granted. I am a professional and learn quickly so I thought it was time for me to learn medicine as it is applied to him. I found this book very readable. I will go further and say I really enjoyed it. It also delivered on the promise of telling me all I needed to know about his health and happiness as we meet the future.

Rating: Summary: A Must-Read for Wives Concerned About Husband's Health Review: I read Your Husband's Health, Simplify Your Worry List. It was easy to relate to and seemed to honestly tackle the problems most men encounter by midlife. It helped me know what to watch for. I liked the part that explained the development of men's brains, masculine stance in society, and emotional growth. That was interesting. I also welcome the information on what vitamins I should get my husband, and how to prevent him from getting heart disease. I think every concerned wife will enjoy and benefit from this well written book.
Rating: Summary: Middle Aged, Me? Already? Review: I read Your Husbands Health cover to cover. My husband is overweight with high blood pressure and he smokes. I also learned that his low LDL cholestrol is a serious problem. Even though I can't get him to the doctor yet, I now know enough about his potential problems to try to get him healthier. The section on erectile dysfunction and adropause was also helpful. From hearing the men talk among themselves they act like they don't need Viagra or it may be addictive. In Dr. Wilson's book she explains the benefits and assures us Viagra is not addictive. I found this 200 page book easy to read and understand yet entertaining. I hope Dr. Wilson writes another book for midlife women.

Rating: Summary: "An Ounce of Prevention Is Worth a Pound of Cure..." Review: If your macho, midlife husband won't go to the doctor, this book is for you. Dr. Kathy answers, in simplified terms, the questions that are hard for you to ask his doctor, and the ones your manly husband would never ask. His health issues are broken down into categories of the "worry list," and then thoroughly explained and demystified. Getting this book will be your first truly active role in preventive medicine.
