Rating: Summary: Instant impact with my 5 year old son Review: After reading "Always Kiss Me Goodnight" I was sufficiently inspired to approach my 5 year old son and ask him what he wanted Daddy to "do differently" as a Daddy. His first response was the politically correct one. "Nothing, daddy," he said. But I pressed on. "Nothing Jesse?" I asked. He looked at me and smiled. "Well, I'd like you to play with me more. And I want Mommmy to play with me more, too." Whew! What a powerful message from my little boy! Of course, I always THINK I play with my son a lot... but after all, that's the perspective of a 51 one year old father who is running a business and travelling all over the country too much of the time. J.S. Salt's book, which I found extraordinarily inspiring and very much to the point, was the catalyst to find out what my son was REALLY thinking. I think the book should be required reading for all new parents... perhaps even included with the freebie "infant bags" hospitals give to all new parents. Hats off to J.S. Salt!
Rating: Summary: Inspirational, not educational Review: Helps you see your parenting through your kids' eyes. If you're looking for an instruction manual, this isn't it. This is a sweet wake-up call to us hurried, harried parents to stop and smell the roses -- and spend time with our kids. I agree it should go out in new baby bags (instead of the ubiquitous formula and other medical-model parenting tools and info).
Rating: Summary: a must for every parent or parent-to-be!!! Review: I cannot recommend this book enough! If you like "Love You Forever" you will LOVE this book! I find myself crying every time I read it! Amazingly simple requests from real children. What other parenting guide does one need? This book is an absolute treasure!
Rating: Summary: Best Parenting Book We've Ever Found! Review: I read about 10 pages of this book and I knew I needed it. Any parent that can read this book from cover to cover without sheding a tear needs to be nominated for parent of the century. Tear some of these pages out and place them around the house so you can remember that your kids are just that... KIDS! They were not meant to run a household or cook dinner.. they are KIDS.. let them enjoy life.Read this book.. I ordered two books.. one for me and one for my ex-wife.

Rating: Summary: Over priced, over hyped, bandaid approach to parenting Review: I was thoroughly disappointed in this book. It takes less than two minutes to read and suggests that being a good parent means never yelling or to buy your children more things. The children are supposed to range in age from 8-12 years, but the penmanship resembles that of 5 year old children. I have six children ages 3-16 and all of my reading children thought it was ridiculous. Any parent with one ounce of common sense and intelligence already knows these little "pearls of wisdom", and parents who have poor parenting skills are not going to be helped by some cutsie book that suggests he/she stop talking on the phone or buy their child more expensive ice cream. If you need helpful tips on parenting your child or pre-teen this book will be useless to you. Your money would be better spent somewhere else, anywhere else
Rating: Summary: A touching, laugh out loud book you'll want to share Review: The responses these kids give goes from thoughtful to outlandish. It's entertaining and enlightening. My eight year old niece read the whole thing outloud to her mother in the car. They laughed, teared up and had a good talk after.
Rating: Summary: Best Parenting Book We've Ever Found! Review: These kids tell it like it is -- straight from the heart and right on target. You could not ask for better or more touching advice. And the fact that its in the kids' own handwriting gives it a very special warmth and appeal. My wife and I give out this book (a lot!) for baby showers. It's the perfect gift.
Rating: Summary: best ever "kid" instruction manual Review: This book truly touched my heart. I am amazed at the wisdom contained in this little booklet. How I wish I would have had a "manual" like this when I was raising my kids. This is appropriate for all ages, from kids right on to grandparents. As a grandmother of 7, I am giving this to each of our children, for their enjoyment and guidance. It is very thought provoking, and it will bring a smile to your face , touch your heart and perhaps even a tear to your eyes.
Rating: Summary: Almost, But No Cigar Review: This is a truly wonderful and inspiring book, but I have to admit minor disappointment. I was hoping that it would read more like another book I have in my collection titled, "Children's Letters To God," which is far more poignant and irrepressibly hysterical.
