Rating: Summary: A quiet favorite of mine. Review: This is a simple book. The illustrations are simple and pleasing, and the words seems soothing. My son loves this book, and I have been reading it too him since shortly after his birth. Now that he is 2 1/2 he understands more and more what is going on between the two hares. It has brought us closer together. The woman who gaves this to my son, a co-worker of mine, died last year and whenever I read this I think of her and how she used to read this to her grandchildren. I guess that's one personal reason for me liking this book as much as I do, but your children's book collection is not really complete until this book is part of it.
Rating: Summary: Still brings tears to our eyes Review: In this tender story about a father putting his child to bed, Sam McBratney effectively conveys the depth of the love I feel for my own children, but am often unable to put into words. Little Nutbrown Hare wants to tell his father, Big Nutbrown Hare, just how much he loves him, but no matter what measure Little Nutbrown Hare chooses, his father always loves him more. For example, Little Nutbrown Hare loves his father as high as he can hop, but Big Nutbrown Hare loves his son as high as he can hop, and he can hop much higher. Finally, the tired little rabbit tells his father he loves him right up to the moon. Big Nutbrown Hare kisses his son good night and whispers, "I love you right up to the moon-- and back." Anita Jeram's pen and ink and watercolor illustrations of father and son gracefully capture the love they feel for each other. She hasn't drawn the typical cute little bunnies found in many children's books; she's drawn creatures capable of expressing emotion. The expression on Little Nutbrown Hare's face as he's falling asleep is one I've seen on my own children. Her pictures also show an incredible range of movement, from stretching arms as high or as wide as possible to very gently kissing a sleeping child on the forehead. This is one of my favorite books. It's a standard part of any "new baby" gift I give, and everyone who has received it from me tells me that they cried when they read it. I still cry.
Rating: Summary: Trying to measure a parent's love Review: Since I read "Guess how much I love you" the tale of one small rabbit trying to outreach the bigger rabbit's love, to my five years old girl, she keeps following me around the house in a kind of tournament trying to reach the highest posible. But how far can a mother's love go? so I guess that you will love that your children keep bugging you this way.
Rating: Summary: Guess How Much I Love You Review: When I was about 15 I used to read this to myself then go up to my mother and ask her how much did she love me but now I'm a mum and I read this to Harvey and Melissa, my 2 children, every night. Then they ask me how much do you love us and I tll them so much I can't describe it. Then they make me guess how much they love me. When they tell me a lot I feel really special. Then I read them the story again and they fall asleep.
Rating: Summary: An Ageless Story Book Review: My 22 year old daughter gave me this book for Mothers Day 2000. Of all the gifts I received, this book touched my heart above all. I look forward to the day I can share this book with my grandchildren (I don't have any yet), but until then I will share the book with my children. This book is ageless just like the love between a mother and child. Every parent should share this book with their child or visa versa as in my case.
Rating: Summary: Guess How Much I Love You! Review: This is my daughter and my favorite book. She is 31/2yrs. old and we enjoy reading it every night before she goes to bed. I started to read it to her a year and a half ago when she was two years old, and now she can read it to me. It has created a special bond between us. It has to be the last book we read so she can dream about hares and her mommy and how much we love each other. We often play a game about guessing how much we love each other. She will jump as high as she can or spread her sweet little arms out as wide as they will go. I just want to thank Sam McBratney for touching our lives in such a special way. Also, I would like to thank him for the wonderful memories he has provided for me and my daughter. I know I will remember it forever, I hope my daughter does as well. Thank you Sam.
Rating: Summary: The Wonder of Love Review: This is a tender love story, beautifully told and wonderfully illustrated. I like the fact that the story can be retold over and over to my 12 week old son by substituting Big Nutbrown Hare with any member of my family. This way we not only get to tell him the story but that we all love him too. It's also great as we get to exercise our hands and feet (as well as his) when we tell this delightful little story.
Rating: Summary: A sweet story that's fun to read Review: This is one of my favorite books to read to my kids. A sweet story of Little Nutbrown Hare trying to tell Big Nutbrown Hare just how much he loves him. The kids can get involved demonstrating how much the little bunny loves him, stretching out their arms, reaching up as high as they can, and hopping as high as they can hop. A real classic!
Rating: Summary: Just the SWEETEST book! Review: Ever since my best friend had her little boy a year ago, I was given a mission. She was always looking for books she could read to him. This was one of the first books I bought for them... It's such a sweet story that she enjoys reading to him before bedtime and I'm positive she'll be reading it to him for years to come.
Rating: Summary: A MUST-READ for people of ALL AGES Review: Unfortunately, this book wasn't published during my childhood. I did have the opportunity, though, to get to know this book as an adult. I have grown to love this book. This book made the perfect Mother's Day gift for my mom. It made a wonderful gift for my boyfriend. He loved the story so much that we read it to each other. Our conversations often end with, "I love you to the moon...and back". This book is an excellent investment for yourself and the love(s) of your life!
