Summary: Good Book!
Review: This is a very cute book that teaches the importance of love.

Everyone has a different way of feeling loved. Some have to be touched, others have to be show (buying gifts, doing things for them) and some fellows have to be told.

Those who communicate love through speech will find this book to be a terrific read for their child or children.

Summary: When You Love Your Children ¿Over the Universe¿ Outstanding
Review: Guess How Much I Love You is truly a fantastic book to read and share with a child just how much you love them. My children adored this book each time I read it to them, and I read it to them daily, as I loved reading it as well!
It is a classic. HIGHLY Recommended!

Summary: Sooooo Sweet
Review: I love reading this story to my children. I bought it when I was pregnant with my first child and I cried when I read it. It is so sweet. I still tell my son (4years old) that I love him to the moon and back. He loves it! And so does my 2 year old daughter. Fabulous, sweet story for your children.

Summary: Possibly the most wonderful book a father can read to achild
Review: Certainly the most beautiful book for a young child that I know of. I just read this once more to my one year old girl, and meant all the words as I said it; I know she didn't understand the words but I know she understood how I said them. After "I love you from here to the moon .... and back.", I closed the book, she looked me in the eyes, clung tightly to my shirt in her little hands, snuffled against my chest, and fell into a deep and contented sleep - while tears dripped from my eyes (which hasn't happened since she was born). Okay, this all seems sappy now I type this, but if nothing else, I hope it persuades you that it is worth a lot more than the few dollars it costs.

A couple of reviewers have criticised what they see as the father 'winning' at the end of the book. Leaving aside their assumption that the child must always win in stories, let me point out that the little hare did not 'lose' the game: he fell asleep. I suppose one could equally well say that he won, because his father couldn't have the last word until his child fell asleep. The father doesn't say "I love you from here to the moon - and back." to win game in some petty way but because he really means it. I can't imagine any child seeing this story as anything other than loving play with one's father. To me, it is absurd that this book could be considered a bad example of parent child interaction, when it is self evidently the reverse.

Summary: My son's first book, I read it to him even before he's born.
Review: Very sweet, touching and reflects the love that my baby is born with. When I was pregnant with my now 5 month old baby boy, my husband and I bought this book and every now and then I read it to him. I was deeply touch by it that I often end with tears in my eyes wishing I could cuddle him at that time. And now, we enjoy reading it together at bedtime while I feel every words, he enjoyed listening to me and looking at the cute pictures. We always ended up,together with my husband, the three of us cuddling each other. It's a perfect book for babies to begin with and also for parents to grow old with...unconditional boundless love. I love you Babes and Pumpkin pie right up to the moon and back!!

Summary: Not just for kids
Review: I bought this book not for a child but for a close friend who is going through a very difficult time in his life. I picked it based on the title alone, because it seemed like it'd have the sort of message I wanted to share with my friend. When I read it, I was delighted by the very simple story of two characters trying to define the size of their love, in a way very much like a game I used to play with my mother. Some people feel that the story is very competitive and I can understand that opinion, but I never felt that way when I played that game with my mother, nor does the book feel competitive to me. To me, the message is simply about love, and the undefinable, unquantifiable nature of it, and the way that no matter what kind of analogy you create for how much you love someone, it's still not big enough.

Besides the message of the story, and soothing illustrations, what really made this book a favorite was the lack of definition for the relationship between the big and little hares. A lot of stories mention in one way or another how the characters are related, and usually they're parent and child. This book makes no mention of how the two characters are related, or even if they are related in any legally-recognized way; you can take it to be whatever you want, whatever fits. Because of that, it's a particularly good fit for our odd mentorship-friendship, or any other nontraditional relationship.

Summary: Ugh.
Review: Honestly, I cringe when my kids pick this particular book for me to read for them. Try repeating "Big Nutbrown Hare" and "Little Nutbrown Hare" 15 or so times and you will understand. (Then do it every night for a week.)
