Rating: Summary: A Wonderful New Way to Real Love! Review: In my 22 years of floundering about in relationships, including one divorce, I must have read nearly every popular book on relationships. They promised everything, but after each hopeful adventure, I wound up alone still longing for my true soulmate. What a surprise it was to me as an experienced romantic when I discovered that I really had no idea about how to go about finding one. In fact, I really didn't understand what a "soulmate" really was until I came across this wonderful book. Dr. Miller, a psychologist, presents a totally new view of love and soulmate relationships and how to find your own. She illustrates her very practical approach with numerous tales from her research and interviews over many years. What a relief to finally see what I have been doing wrong and to have clear guidelines on how to do it right. The best part is that I don't need to become anything more than I have already been all these years to make this work. I just have to know how to utilize what I've always had. It all comes from within us, and this book tells us how to access it. I am thrilled with the changes that I have already made and my dating activities have shown marked benefits. I feel more certain of what I am doing, more insightful, and that sense of anxiety has been replaced with a calming peacefulness. I connect better and now know when to and when not to! For all of you yearning for soulmate love, I urge you to try this better way!
Rating: Summary: Soulmates, understanding first, the rest will follow Review: Like Carolyn Godschild Millers previous book, Creating Miracles, SOULMATES is structured more or less in the same way: between her writings she often tell some very interesting stories out of real life, which strengthen the theory she is advocating. She keeps the paragraphs and chapters relatively small. At the beginning at each chapter there is a poetic-like quote from a well known spiritual book. While the very interesting stories are fun to read, the reviews of the stories are often a sharp analysis of what is really going on at spiritual level. What I like about Carolyn Millers style of writing is the thoroughness, the purposefulness, deliberateness and the well stucturedness. When she puts down something it's not just because it's beautiful or impressive to read, it's because she wants to tell you something that you can apply in your own life. She often juggles with different points of view so that you never get the feeling you're dealing with a dogmatic writer. I think she has put much effort in making sure that what she means is not translated in other ways. She also deals with "what if" situations. This makes you feel that you are dealing with a responsible and cautious advisor. Handling spiritual matters in such a academical, practical and well defined, well structured way is not easy for most writers. And I figure it's not entirely easy for her either since it takes her 5 years to complete this 244 paged book. It does say something about the love and effort she puts in it. Though the book suggests that it's about finding an ideal relationship, many of it's contents is also applicable to readers who already have a(n) (ideal) relationship. After reading the book you really can take steps to start what she is advising you. It's not just a book to feel well after reading. It's a book with ideas and insights you can apply in your own life. Of course, the outcome depends on the readers understanding, eagerness and other attitudes. What I find most useful is her down-to-earth advices on how to contact your inner guide. I can recommend this book to anyone who sincerely wants to know the truth about relationships (instead of just wanting to hear that they are the right ones all along) and is willing to take steps to create or improve them.
Rating: Summary: A tremendously helpful & comprehensive guide Review: Miller dispels the myths and false beliefs about soul mates. Her approach is practical yet enlightening, comprehensive and heartening in the way she gently leads you to transcend your ego demands and find the relationship of your highest dreams. If you've ever been curious about soul mates, read it.
Rating: Summary: At last, a Users Guide Review: Much has been written about soulmates, and the term has become almost generic. True soulmates do NOT automatically find each other, contrary to popular belief. The forces which operate this Universe do not guarantee us all a perfect mate, only the possibility of finding one. Carolyn Millers painstaking research has discovered some core truths about the process, and she outlines some ways in which we may refine and enhance what was heretofore, a haphazard search. The real life people, from whom these conclusions were drawn, I am sure, will attest to the guidance that brought them together. It is this guidance that Dr. Miller helps us to understand and use. We can all find the Pot of Gold at the end of the Rainbow, if we will just read the signs, and "Soulmates" is the best road-map I have ever encountered.
Rating: Summary: An inviting account offering keys to a deeper understanding. Review: Soulmates focuses on relationships and provides keys to understanding those lasting elements which separate 'soulmates' from others. Psychologist Miller gathers stories which illustrate the difference and shows how individuals may determine differences between relationships and soul-mate unions. An inviting account offering keys to deeper understanding.
Rating: Summary: Soulmates--A "must" read! Review: Soulmates is a fascinating and extremely well-written book that expresses profound universal truths about love relationships in a clear, simple, and concise manner. As an English teacher I appreciate its reader-friendliness and warm style. As a woman who for many years has sought love and romance, it opened my eyes to the way to finding a SOULmate rather than the succession of egomates I've been used to. Dr. Miller, a psychologist, shares the amazing stories of dozens of people from all walks of life who succeeded in finding their special someone. Her research reveals what these people did and why. Specific guidelines are presented at the end of each chapter so that you may do the same. Highly recommended to all seeking TRUE love after trying all the rest.
Rating: Summary: Still Hope for the Lovelorn Review: Soulmates is an interesting and enjoyable book to read. The author's theoretical knowledge of clinical psychology and her spiritual strength and understanding combine to elucidate many of the pitfalls that we all fall prey to in our pursuit of romantic love. Capturing another's heart, as we all long to do, requires knowing what you are doing, and the author supplies the reader with what appear to be the necessary tools. It is written in a lucid, witty and often amusing style that is succinct and fresh in its approach. It made me stop and realize that the sophisticated strategies that we have all employed are so often ultimately unsuccessful. This book offers help for and restores hope to the possibility of igniting the true flame of love.

Rating: Summary: The Soul of Soulmates Review: The concept of the soulmate is an ancient belief found in cultures the world over. The idea is the substance from which everything from good talk shows to good lives has been built. But what does it really mean, and why should I care? Carolyn Godschild Miller has a pretty good answer. Even better she writes in language that is accessible, using stories from her own life, and the lives of others to ground her points in the real world. I particularly liked the honesty with which she talked about how she manipulated men and then wondered why they ran away. This is not an author talking down to her readers, nor a guru making pronouncements. This is a middle aged woman, therapist, and college professor, who worked hard for her insights, and who knows others are working hard as well. It gives her book a humility that makes her words valuable and true.
