Summary: Ok, I read most of it but cant afford to buy it... yet....
Review: I enjoy skimming the psychology section of the store and this book was just glaring at me (probably because of its broad white face and yellow explanation point)... I read the title, and I had previously looked up other books for women and their anger (theres not a lot of them) and nothing looked really organised or updated.

I sat down and started reading...

All I can say is WOW! When I think of people with anger problems I always envision the male beating his wife, losing his temper and becoming irate. "Those" were anger problems... But as females we handle our anger SO incredibly diffrent. Although some of us can be violent like males... Generally, most of us are not, but handle our anger just as destructively.

The book covers an array of myths women believe and how each myth is applied to specific sitations when females become angry. Theres also personal studies and commentary from women having problems with their families, spouse, boyfriend, kids, work, etc.

An example of an anger myth...

*Women are to remain docile or uppity and not share their anger. Because if they do theres something obviously wrong with them. You are either sick or crazy or definately unfeminine.

This myth invalidates our feeling of anger and makes us doubt our own intuition/feelings.

Another fairly interesting myth was the one I took to heart...

*All or most anger leads to violence.

This again isnt true but always made me so anxious when I fought/argued with someone close to me. So eventually I would supress how I felt with this perticular person although they had never hit me.

This book is very organised and heart felt. Although it is not condeming it helps you take a closer look at your own responsibilities and how you handle an array of issues when you become angry or upset. It comfronts the consequences and unrealistic expectations we have been tought as children or by society to uphold.

In conclusion, this is a book worth buying! It offers many answers and solutions. Men could also learn A LOT from this book even though it is applied to women specificly.

Another book I suggest is "Beyond Anger: A guide for Men" by Harbin. Although tailored for men, women can learn from this to!

If your thirst for better understanding and communication in relationships still isnt quenched try...

"Getting the Love You Want: A guide for couples" (Hendrix)

and...

"Nonviolent Communication: A Language of Compassion" (Rosenberg)
