Rating: Summary: Lazy and irresponsible Review: If you've read a single self-help book, you've read this one. Come to think of it, Bob Arnot's "keys to success" are the same things your mother's been telling you for years: eat right, get plenty of sleep, exercise often and stay positive. But beyond the shock of having paid 30 bucks for such "expert advice," you also get a presciption worthy of a quack, not a respected physician: that in order to fully realize one's potential, even the mentally healthy should experiment with prescription anti-depressants. While it's no surprise that prescription anti-depressants have done tremendous good for those suffering from catastrophic mental illness, even for those experiencing short-term, situational depression, it's also no surprise that, in our HMO era of doling out pills to save on costly long-term therapy, prescription anti-depressants are already over-prescribed by GPs. As a physician - one who furthermore reaches millions of viewers and countless more through books like this - it's highly irresponsible of Dr. Bob to urge prescription drug experimentation to the healthy with no evidenciary support for his claims of enhanced performance and no acknowledged consideration of the potentially detrimental effects of such use. First, Doctor, do no harm. The doctor also repeatedly plugs one company for light systems, "pink noise machines," etc. - an obvious advertisement (got stock, Bob?), and one that failed to even make mention that numerous companies offer the same products. Not only am I returning this dog, I'm tuning out the doctor's orders forever.
Rating: Summary: ENHANCING YOUR QUALITY OF LIFE Review: Once again Dr Bob has provided a road map to realizing ones full potential. While his previous work concentrated on diet and fitness ( "..guide to turning back the clock" and "..revolutionary weight control program")Dr bob's new book completes the picture by incorporating advice for creating and maintaining the positive mental attitude which is the foundation of success. His emmminently readable style and usefull personal examples make this book not only interesting but easy to use in your day to day life. after reading the section on using music to create a mental mood I have been using netradio.com to broadcast jazz through my office computer. I have lowered my level of stress and find it easier to focus on what is important. If you incorporate only one of the many recommendation into your daily life you will find that this book is an excelent investment in yourself.
Rating: Summary: A Message and a Scientific Messenger Review: Rooted in firm scientific research. Go for it. The Biology of Success is all that. Author Arnot knows what he is talking about. The subject is not new however. It did help me con new terminology to describe the practical philosophy of survival I have learned through the examples of others. I highly recommend reading another book -- LIFE WITH NOAH. Unlike Arnot's cosmopolitan publication, the narrative doesn't stress diet, exercise and altering one's environment. Yet the message is similar. Take control of your life. Get out doors. Involve yourself in meaninful activity. Channel your mind. Rid yourself of the many negatives found in civilization and you will awaken to a new spiritual landscape -- all from the perspective and through the experience of a woodsman and his life time friend, Noah John Rondeau, the hermit of Cold River Flow. This book does not collect dust. I find myself continually rereading portions. I have yet to find more spiritual nature writing from the heart.
Rating: Summary: A Good Read! Review: This book is a primer for anyone who wants coaching in how to structure your life to maximize your success. The coaching is scientifically oriented, yet the book is imminently practical. Science is used to describe and explain the benefits of the suggested techniques, not to challenge the reader. More specifically, science is used to support numerous non-scientific coaching concepts, which could not be scientifically explained until recently. We [...] recommend this book to business people who want to maximize their mental energy in a way that improves their chances of success.

Includes tips like : eat a high protein meal for breakfast and lunch to increase alertness and consequently effectiveness. Listen to music from Schumann and Mozart to create the smooth rhythm in your mind. According to the author, we all need these melody to create the kind of brain waves for success. Other notable areas includes being optimistic, living at the moment...etc.. There is not much breakthrough research here, its more about a compilation and summary of key areas of our lives. For me, the author has given a fantastic summary of all these areas. Try it, and you will not regret it.
